Green_Hilltop: Are you actually feeling something in this room or is that just RP?

You misread the post, I said I'm carrying Rudy and Dunward (Sulibor) is carrying Roosevelt. Also they're at the back of the hallway, since the Beholder starting levitating back towards the portal, so he's not in the centre of the room anymore.
I better see the situation now, but it changes nothing. Do you forget that one Hag, the strongest of the three, escaped us and disappeared (post 700)? She was able to remain invisible and reclaimed revenge. Who knows if she sneaked and followed us, then waiting for most of us to enter in the portal to attack the latecomers ? This is not RP, my thief instinct is more sensitive since my "death" and I'm a werewolf too since Roark infected me, so I have a kind of sixth sense now. Follow me all if you want to live... And stay alert !

MaxFulvus:
Good point about the Hag and a good thing somebody actually said it. I didn't mention it since I guessed that if she were to strike, she would use the commotion caused by the Beholder. But she might well be waiting for us all to lower our guard and separate.

Green_Hilltop: That went well!

Have no fear, Roosevelt, I'll resurrect you and Rudy in two turns, when I'll get my spells back!

Alright, since it seems now that the room is safe, let's investigate if there's anything interesting here before leaving - does anyone have a Detect Secrets spell?

I move carefully back the left side of the room, sheathe my weapons, pick up Rudy and ask Max if he could trapcheck the way while I (and anyone else who wants to) investigate if there's anything interesting besides the portal in the room after laying Rudy down next to the portal. Treasure (surely the Beholder most have something in this room, his lair should be nearby or there is another reason for him being here), secrets, something in the hallway?

Can someone pick up Roosevelt and carry him to the portal so I can resurrect him after we're done here, unless I can't carry both at once?
Rudy doesn't know how to repay that act of kindness but even if he does not come back to life he will never forget that good deed.He just wishes that he could be more of a help with the beholder and not die from a single death ray.

Current Situation:

2 TURNS LEFT TO ESCAPE

In the large archway (The Beholder Boss Fight):
Cicatrix, Says Beldarion, and Kip escaped through the portal. Roosevelt died in battle against the Beholder. Thras (and Taz) moved up the right side of the room while invisible. Og'rialt uses his mirror on the Beholder killing it in one hit. The Beholder is dead. Only threat remaining is Taz attached to Thras hiding invisible on the right side of the room. The portal lies just at the end of the room.

Current Actions Summary

69 - alexandros050 - Rudy - Human Ranger -- DEAD
(Felled by "Death Ray". Body intact. Can possibly be revived.)

13 - paladin181 - Roosevelt - Human Paladin -- DEAD -- ( Protection Against Evil, Reflect Spells )
(Died from his injuries. Can Possibly be revived.)

35 - jonridan - Aslain Melemir - Elven Thief -- SLEEPING
Zzz...

80 - Green_Hilltop - Eranear - Elf Paladin -- ( Protection Against Evil, Reflect Spells, Bless )

28 - triock - Triock Ulagolor - Elven Paladin -- ( Healing Ring )
With nothing else to do, Triock Ulagolor, Elven Paladin, releases a deep discontented sigh and looks at the petrified Beholder. "Too bad I couldn't kill this monstrosity." He takes sleeping Aslain on his back: "It's time to go, sleepy boy!" and enters with him trough portal.

5 - Sulibor - Dunward - Human Mage -- ( Levitate, Magic Shield )
"I have already cast this spell and detected nothing, my friend, but I can cast it again on the other side of the hall. As I am levitating I will try to pick up the brave paladin Roosevelt and we should safely hover above the floor to the portal."
Dunward will try to pick up the Roosevelt. If he is still able to levitate encumbered by the body, he will hover with it above the floor as quickly as possible in direction of the portal, following the steps of other adventurers. He hopes that traps here are pressure based but, although he is not a thief, he will try to detect any abnormalities in the walls or floor that could indicate trap.
If he reaches the portal in this turn he will not enter it yet.
I will also take time and consider other actions that could be taken.

2 - bler144 - SmartyFartBlart - Human Paladin -- ( Reflect Spells, Protective Bubble )
Well, with the beholder down I'll continue towards the portal., following the path others have taken to stay clear of traps.

43 - idbeholdME - Svartalf - Dwarven Battlemage -- ( Protection Against Evil, Reflect Spells)
As all my spells are expended, I will just continue my way behind the pillars on the left side of the room towards the portal, keeping an eye out for anything interesting along the way others could have missed during combat. I do not enter it just yet, making sure that nobody is left behind and taking one last look around the room.

70 - Lifthrasil - Thras - Dwarven Mage -- TAZ AWAKE BLIND -- ( Invisible )
1. I fire all my remaining spells at the beholder. As lightning bolts, if I can do so without endangering my fellow adventurers, or as acid arrows, if the field isn't clear and more precision is needed.
Then I jump through the portal.
2. @mod: correction! I don't fire my spells, but I just go through the portal.

29 - gogtrial34987 - Og'rialt - Dwarf Brigand -- ( Magic Shield )
1.Og'rialt grins in satisfaction at a job well done, his pleasure only slightly diminished as the other adventurers start filing past toward the portal without a word of thanks.
2. When he spots Aslain being carried by Triock, fast asleep, he has flashbacks to Kyp, whose axe he unfortunately never got to use for its intended purpose. He tries slapping Aslain a bit to wake him up, so he can leave the premise on his own powers - or, ideally - help Og'rialt with maybe detecting and dismantling some final traps.
3.If he doesn't manage to wake up Aslain, then when he spots Max, he asks him to help instead.
4.This done, Og'rialt moves away from the center of the hall where he knows all the traps exist, and tosses one of the hag's eyeballs into the air. If it zooms off to the center of the hall, he moves to one of the nearby corners of the hall, and tosses an eyeball in the air there. If it again zooms off to the center of the hall, he repeats the procedure at the other corner. (The fourth eyeball he keeps with him; a memento, which might just come in handy in the future of the outside world.)
As soon as one of the eyeballs zooms off somewhere other than the center of the hall, he follows it. If he reaches parts of the hall that haven't been examined for traps, and he has neither Aslain nor Max with him for trap detecting support, he whips his spiked chain onto the ground far ahead of him as he walks along, hoping that its force will trigger anything nasty.
If all three eyeballs zoom off to the center of the hall, then with the final one he follows, very carefully, still using the chain to make certain the path is clear. As his greatest desire at this point is to find a safe path to treasure where he won't die by a trap, he also keep a close eye on where his finger bone is pointing. If he reaches the eyeball(s), he'll put them back in his pouch, and take whatever treasure has been revealed, hopefully after any traps have been disabled by his trusty Thief sidekick (who'll share in the treasure once it's been determined what the treasure actually consists of; Og'rialt also mentally assigns some of the contents of the never-emptying pots of gold - which his imagination conjures in vivid detail - to Dunward, whose Magic Shields have certainly saved his life once already, and are giving him the confidence to try finding treasure at this point).
If Og'rialt's Magic Shield disappears due to damage, he'll stop and take stock of his position. Otherwise he pushes on, steered by Dwarven greed and Brigand experience that the greater the foe, the greater the treasure.

9 - MaxFulvus - Max, son of Fulvus - Dwarven Thief
About myself, I consider the portal is safe to go through. I remain prudent but I quickly move towards it, then before to enter, I turn back and give a last advice to the other adventurers : "Carry Roosevelt, Rudy and Aslain and bring them beyond the portal. Roosevelt and Rudy can be resurrected and Aslain awaken after we entering the portal. Too bad that some of our fellows where left behind, but it's their choice (I have a thought for Babargh who was a good guy !). Hurry up, I feel something here, full of rage and hate, wishing our destruction ! See you later !".
Then I enter in the portal, hoping to find a safe place to take some rest, even if I will never forget the horrors hidden in the dark corners of the Earth.

41 - zlaywal - Zayd ibn Yasin - Human Ranger
Zayd had enough of this dungeon. He pick the safest way to the portal and enters it. Give me any sandy desert than this forsaken place.

Haven't taken turn yet:
48 - babark - Babargh - Dwarven Cleric -- ( Globe of Protection )
72 - park_84 - Darrim - Dwarf Warrior
78 - CervelloYM - Cervello - Drow Battlemage

Yes - she left our encounter because "the door had opened." She moved to that area where the door had been opened, and voila.

Hmm ok, but I won't be quiet until I enter in the portal.

Yeah, from an RP standpoint our group would have no way of knowing. When she first disappeared most of us thought the 'door opened' she was referring to was the one Cic went through ahead of us.

True. I didn't read the stories from the other tunnels because I played from a strict RP vision.
1 turn left to escape.

** TURN 19 **

Southern tunnel:

28 - Triock Ulagolor - Elven Paladin you carry Aslain through the portal.
You have escaped.

35 - Aslain Melemir - Elven Thief You are carried through the portal. Og'rialt tries to wake you as you are carried past *rolls dice* but fails.
You have escaped.

2 - SmartyFartBlart - Human Paladin you follow the safe passage of the left side of the room and exit through the portal.
You have escaped.

43 - Svartalf - Dwarven Battlemage you continue along the left side of the room to the portal. You don't enter it yet, waiting to make sure everyone leaves safely.

70 - Thras - Dwarven Mage you move up the right side of the room towards the portal *rolls dice*. You enter the portal, as you enter there is a searing pain in your shoulder.
Exiting the other side you blink as you see Taz stood in front of you, fully formed. He is wearing identical clothes to you and has the same weapon.
You quickly check your shoulder and let out a sigh of relief to see no sign of Taz there.
Taz looks at you, sniffs the air, then lets out a maniacal laugh before running off into the woods.
What have you unleashed on the world?
You have escaped.

5 - Dunward - Human Mage you cast Detect Secrets towards the right side of the room *rolls dice* you feel a tingling but cannot see any secrets from your position. While levitating you attempt to pick up Roosevelts body *rolls dice* you struggle with the weight but manage to lift him. *rolls dice* You reach the portal but do not exit yet.

41 - Zayd ibn Yasin - Human Ranger gladly exits the portal, longing for the outside world.
You have escaped.

9 - Max, son of Fulvus - Dwarven Thief believing the lair of a Beholder to contain hidden dangers, you make your way to the portal. Before exiting you ask for those who are incapacitated to be carried to safety so that they may be revived on the other side. You then exit through the portal.
You have escaped.

80 - Eranear - Elf Paladin you pick up the body of Rudy. You are pleased to see Dunward pick up Roosevelt.
You ask Max to trap check, guessing that a Beholder would have treasure nearby. He only wants to escape.
*rolls dice* You move to the right of the room where a door shape is glowing red. Three separate bricks above the door also glow red. You scratch your chin and assume this is the result of Dunward's detect secrets spell.

29 - Og'rialt - Dwarf Brigand your attempt to wake Aslain fails. You and Eranear attempt to get Max to check for traps but to no avail. You toss one of the Hags eyeballs into the air, it speed off to hover above a spot by the Beholders corpse. You move to the left corner of the room and throw another eyeball into the air, it speeds off down the hall to hover in the middle, near the entrance.
Grumbling in annoyance, you move to the right corner of the room. You throw a third eyeball into the air and it shoots off down the right side of the room to hover near Eranear, by the top left highlighted brick.
You move to join Eranear by the glowing area and bricks. Your finger bone necklace points to the door shape in front of you.

Intuiting that some or all of the bricks need to be pressed in order to get the door to open and treasure to be revealed, Og'rialt takes stock for a moment in which his paranoia is running rampant. "What if this is some puzzle that I missed the hint to? What if this eyeball is also pointing at a trap? What if..." Yet time is running out. If Dunward hadn't cast his detect secrets spell, his only hints would've been the eyeball hovering and the finger bone pointing. A powerful hag enchanted both to be helpful to her. Time to trust that she knew her business.

Ready to dodge out of the way if he has come to the wrong conclusion and triggers a trap ("it's not a trap if you know it's a trap!") and trusting in his magic shield to deflect poison darts and the like, Og'rialt stands back a bit to take a firm grip on his mithril axe, and uses it to firmly push the top left brick. If the outline of the door doesn't open, then after a short wait he will hesitantly press the middle brick as well, and finally the right/bottom one.

Assuming the space behind the door is filled with treasure, Og'rialt swiftly puts the eyeball back in its pouch, grabs as much of the most valuable treasure as possible (pointing out additional valuable pieces to Eranear, if applicable), with a particular eye toward useful magic items for the world outside. After doing so, he is once again gripped by the inexorable dread which gripped him in the central chamber, and remembers the visceral need to get out of here. Og'rialt rushes to the portal as swiftly as his dwarven legs can carry him, shooing Dunward and Svartalf to get out when he nears them, and then diving through himself. (If there is a portal behind the door as well, Og'rialt shouts to Dunward to get out and meet up later, and then dives through that portal instead.)

If any traps are triggered which hamper Eranear (or himself in such a way that he's still capable of action), Og'rialt makes him drink one of his healing potions (or quaffs it himself). If Eranear is completely incapitated, and Og'rialt feels that he has the strength to carry him, he does so.

If Og'rialt somehow misses out on escaping by portal, he points his silver mirror at a blank wall, and if that doesn't work, he consults his guide.

Being near the portal, I feel a minor disturbance in magic. I inspect it closely and notice it is blinking ever so slightly and begins to gently fizzle from time to time, as if the spell is starting to lose its power.

I shout in the direction of Eranear and Og'rialt:

"Move it people! From what I can tell, this portal isn't going to last much longer. Even if you find something, being encumbered by it as you are making a run for a closing portal is less than ideal. Don't let greed make you lose the most valuable thing you have; your own lives."

Hoping that my words make them realize the urgency of the current situation, I grab Rudy's body and drag it through the portal with me, hopefully joining the others who have already made it through.
