Actually, that was more a comment on the "Disney's teddy bear". ;-)

As for Theodore's evil smile - with all that burden on his shoulders, the poor guy is too beaten to attempt anything.

I just realized how that might look to people who haven't read Discworld. For the record, the N-word in question is not related to any race, religion, skin color, minority, etc.
While I have read a few (far too few) of the Discworld books, I can't, at the moment, recall the N-word.

You're reading Raising Steam, but you've only read a few of the preceding novels? You must be confused ;-)

Actually, I do believe the N-word reference might well be from Soul Music.

Regarding reading order, I advise one of two methods: either read the books in the order they were written, or read one "sub-series" (Rincewind, The Witches, Death, The City Watch, etc.) at a time, but still in the order those books were written. The first method will ensure you don't miss anything, but the second is likely more enjoyable. My favourite sub-series is The City Watch.

Oh dear. Yes, I can see how that would be a problem. I really would recommend reading them in English. Pratchett is something of a linguistic virtuoso, much like Douglas Adams, so a lot of nuances are likely to get lost in translation.

I had the same problem when I originally read the Harry Potter books. Someone had given me the first three books in Danish, so I read those like that. When I then bought book #4 in English I was thoroughly confused to begin with, because in Harry Potter most of the supporting characters have "meaningful" names, so they are called something different in Danish. Hence, when I started on book #4 I had no idea who half the characters were, even though it was clear that I was supposed to know them already.
