It's not really whether they're outgoing, dogs have been domesticated far longer than any other animal and have a unique relationship with people.

It's also stupid farming a carnivore, cows by their nature are much more realistic to farm.

Not quite. Has more to do with medicine we give our pets and animals. If I recall right in Germany you can write off your horse under tax exemptions for the purpose of slaughter/consumption later, but then you can't use certain medicines, drugs or anti-biotics. I remember this was covered in an episode of MASH.

Hmm I remember my mom considered raising rabbits, she was doing calculations on cost vs work vs slaughter, and then the cost in raw meat. I think it was calculated at 35¢ a pound in raw rabbit meat if we raised them ourselves. Of course I don't know if I could slaughter rabbits. Also Rabbits were never on the list of dairy/stock animals and thus could be had in-town vs out of town.

But we never did it, just explored the idea.
