gamesfreak64: I know thanks for the reminder , problem is what if in case i have a new setup one day ? new PC and my setups on backup disc /external usb drive are gone or damaged, backupdrives dont have eternal life.... there will be no download available ?
GR00T: Not sure what to tell you about that. I DL all my installers as soon as I buy the game. I have a couple storage drives with the installers backed up, so redundancy to cover accidental loss of data. It's worked for me for years so far.
gamesfreak64: I fear in time all backups be gone ... yes only autodownloads with only Galaxy ( client only) support cause it makes life soo much easier, problem is 99% of all digishops already do that so i hope GOG will stay 'old fashioned' which is a dream cause at the current rate games arrive its a matter of months before everything is Steam like.... ( sad face)
GR00T: Well, now you're going into the speculative "at some point Galaxy will be mandatory" territory. I'm not going to argue that here (there are other entire threads for that), but suffice to say that GOG has repeatedly stated Galaxy won't be mandatory. If you don't believe that, then DL your backup installers as soon as you buy a game (like I do). This has a twofold benefit:
1) you'll always have access to the off-line installer
2) you also have the original release installer so if you don't like updates or what certain patch version do, you can opt to not use the updated game installers/patches
This does mean you'll end up with a number of different versions of the game, which can make storing/sorting a bit of a pain, but it gives you complete control of your game files.
And if it ever comes to the point that there are no off-line installers available and you can only get your games through Galaxy: well, then leave GOG and shop elsewhere, as many of us will do.
cant leave GOG ..... cant go elsewhere ............ because i am already elsewhere :D
@steam and @GG(gamersgate) joined there because i read about it in GOG forums, never heard of steam or GG if it wasnt for the GOG forums i never know steam and GG existed... i read about GOG in a pc gameplay magazine.
pc = not the problem a monitor is... my old crt doesnt support higher resolutions although my GPU does
gamesfreak64: And loose the old setups ? i stick to my old versions, optional setups are okay but having to switch to new only which will fail on my old monitor , no thanks, i paid for old and want to keep the old setups.
GR00T: If you DL and save the old backup installers, you won't lose anything.
unless... my hardware fails , backups need hardware like disks, cd/dvd rom to be stored/burned on
playing small games now from a USB drive local drives are getting crowded so i move all the gigabytes of casualgames.

keeveek: I laughed at Windows XP, thank you very much for that.
your welcome.
I installed the 2.0.0.6 desperados setup i had backuped on USB drive
game works a charm but the fonts were all messed up , blurry, i guess because of the GTX 750 ti i have now, jagged alliance games have exact same problem, seems some settings in GPU settings panel need to be turned of/on or changed.. i always change settings per game, not global cause that might cause some trouble.
