BreOl72: Only to then ruin the diplomatic path completely by implementing something (the virus on the credchip) on which I as the player have no influence whatsoever, thus forcing the violent path onto me.
Although the player has an influence here. First, nobody forced the player to complete an optional objective to get this chip. Second, there was a line to tell about corp involvement that potentially could prevent violence.ignisferroque

Milk runs going wrong is pretty much a Cyberpunk trope tho ;) I don't really mind that, Witcher 3 did it too occasionally, with the apparent "good" solution often having the worse outcome.
But I agree that it shouldn't happen like in the Demo too often, just enough to not always have a predictable good or bad way to do things.
Dunno if the game will have stealth elements but I hope that most quests really will have a peaceful or more diplomatic solution, but CDPR are pretty good at this in my opinion, i'm not worried.

I also hope for stealth gameplay. As the "narrator" in the demo said: "Remember - we've chosen to buy the tech, not steal it."
In my eyes, the "steal it" part implements, that there is a stealth path...of course, it could also just be the narrator's choice of words with absolute no regard to the actual possibilities in the game.
Anyway - we'll have to wait and see.
Gersen: Just because you chose the "non-violent" approach, it doesn't mean that you will always be able to get away with it, maybe you will end up with the "violent" resolution anyway.
Well, sure. And it would be ok, if I was the one who botched it. I just don't like these pre-set screw-ups, where the decision (or just the opportunity to screw up through faults of my own) gets taken away from me.
Just my 2cts.

Olauron: Although the player has an influence here.
1) First, nobody forced the player to complete an optional objective to get this chip.
1) Yeah, but how do you try a diplomatic approach...without the 50k creditchip from the corp? 1) First, nobody forced the player to complete an optional objective to get this chip.
The narrator of the demo is quite unambiguous with his statement regarding this:
Narrator: "The agent gave us the money to buy the bot we need from the gang. By chosing to call the Militech Agent earlier, we have now opened up a non-violent path through this quest. Of course, we could try and keep the money, but that would mean we'd have to take the merchandise by force. Which requires a lot of firepower."
Olauron: 2) Second, there was a line to tell about corp involvement that potentially could prevent violence.
2) There was? I must have missed it... Meeting with the Corporate Agent:
-----
Correct.
Got a proposition for ya.
-----
Calm the hell down. Sheesh.
Got information you could use.
-----
Yep. All by my lonesome.
No. Got a friend watching over me.
Lemme go. Then we'll talk.
Grab the gun.
-----
No idea what you're talking about.
I know lots of assholes. And most of 'em talk.
Lemme go. Then we'll talk.
Grab the gun.
-----
Got an offer for you.
I'm working for Dexter DeShawn.
Now, no reason at all (fight).
-----
Pay me, and I'll nab your thieves for you.
We can recover your gear together.
I'll help you find your mole.
-----
I'm in.
What's the catch?
-----
At this point after the meeting the narrator explains how this meeting enables us to approach the quest peacefully.
==========
Arriving at the hide-out:
-----
We go in guns hot.
Let's try to get along.
Start off nice, then...
-----
No faith in my charme?
Chattered enough.
-----
Here to see Royce.
Just open the fuck up.
-----
Want to buy a spiderbot.
Where's the boss?
-----
Jackie, sit down.
What's up, Jack?
-----
Take the inhaler.
I'll pass.
What is this shit?
-----
The bot - need to see it.
How'd you get your hands on all the Militech gear?
-----
I'll take it as is.
How much?
-----
Eddies are on this chip.
Fuck you.
Draw weapon.
-----
Dex sent me.
I'm my own boss.
Draw weapon.
-----
Draw weapon.
-----
Fund's right here.
Know what? Changed my mind.
Cred's yours, with some additional info.
-----
At this point, the virus on the chip activates, and the shooting begins.
Where exactly did you see the line about corp involvement, that could (potentially) prevent the violence?

One would surely think so. ;) Hm, but aren't V and Jack on the lowest rung of the ladder to success?
Where do they get the 50k from?
EDIT: remember - V couldn't even pay the Ripper-Doc (a lousy E$1800 or so?)
EDIT 2: just watched it again - (20:26) V has a whopping 140 eddies in her wallet.
Well, it's a possibility...I'll give you that.
However - could also be the info where to find Dexter DeShawn - and make some powerful equipped new friends with that info.
That's the thing - we don't know for sure if there is an option to avoid the firefight.
And even if it avoids this particular fight - ratting out either Dex or the corp will definitely lead to some other fight in the future.

Olauron: They are in the demo, but we have no idea what side quests are available to them in the whole game.
True...as I said before - we'll have to wait and see. My fingers are crossed. ;) Oh, I hope for the best.
Because I really want to play that game...it's just that things like these will determine whether I buy the game on release day, or at a later point and at a reduced price.
