tomimt: Jim Walls of Plice Quest fame is pitching his new game, Precinct. From the looks of it, it's going to be more serious police game, with 500k budget.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/precinctgame/precinct Though the first tier to get the actual game does seem to be pretty steep.
I'm not yet sure if I'm willing to shell out 30 bucks for an episodic game. But at least this game seems to try something else than just to re-create point & click style PQ spiritual sequel.
HypersomniacLive: As I said in the thread created by MoP for Precinct,
episodic release doesn't sound thrilling.
The campaign lacks important info, like how many episodes there will be, if the $30 tier includes only Ep. 1, what tier nets you all episodes, when the series will conclude (I suppose this depends on the success of the series).
If the $30 tier gets you only Ep.1, I'm curious to see how much it'll cost on release.
And no one should ever again complain about Telltale Games being overpriced.
And here's the highlight for me:
Pledge $15 or more
You receive a 5-pack of HD wallpapers created by the game team as well as a thank you on our website.
HypersomniacLive: Seriously?
huh?
FAQ
Is Precinct an episodic game?
No. Precinct is planned as a series to be released over the coming years, but each game is a full product. The Kickstarter funds enable our team to create a game engine and game editor that makes subsequent releases possible within the scope of our resources.
.
I just stumble over that game a few minutes ago (& really hope it gets funded) so it might have been episodic and changed to full game with potential series. Or somebody over there got series and episodic mixed up.
Also (but thats just personal opinion) I really do not think its unfair they bundle the game at first with the 30 $ pledge. Maybe a bit unusual, but not unfair.
