ET3D: I'm kind of feeling the same for the Alice short. $25 to get an animated short feels too much to me. I still hope the project will make it, but I feel it's a tactical error to price it like that.
Yep. I think so too. As much as the Zombies in his other (cancelled) project were. I think that contributed to the fact that OZombie didn't take off so well.
7 Days to Die - Zombie Survival Game, looks like Minecraft mixed with zombie apocalypse

tomimt: Jim Walls of Plice Quest fame is pitching his new game, Precinct. From the looks of it, it's going to be more serious police game, with 500k budget.

Though the first tier to get the actual game does seem to be pretty steep. I'm not yet sure if I'm willing to shell out 30 bucks for an episodic game. But at least this game seems to try something else than just to re-create point & click style PQ spiritual sequel.

HypersomniacLive: As I said in the thread created by MoP for Precinct, episodic release doesn't sound thrilling.
The campaign lacks important info, like how many episodes there will be, if the $30 tier includes only Ep. 1, what tier nets you all episodes, when the series will conclude (I suppose this depends on the success of the series).

If the $30 tier gets you only Ep.1, I'm curious to see how much it'll cost on release.
And no one should ever again complain about Telltale Games being overpriced.

And here's the highlight for me:

Pledge $15 or more

HypersomniacLive: Seriously?
huh?

FAQ

Is Precinct an episodic game?

No. Precinct is planned as a series to be released over the coming years, but each game is a full product. The Kickstarter funds enable our team to create a game engine and game editor that makes subsequent releases possible within the scope of our resources.
.
I just stumble over that game a few minutes ago (& really hope it gets funded) so it might have been episodic and changed to full game with potential series. Or somebody over there got series and episodic mixed up.

Also (but thats just personal opinion) I really do not think its unfair they bundle the game at first with the 30 $ pledge. Maybe a bit unusual, but not unfair.

I think you found the game a little late.
Initially the campaign intruduced it as an episodic series without giving any further info - that was about 15 hours ago. A few hours later, Robert Lindsley made the follwoing comment on Kickstarter:
To be absolutely clear, the game is not episodic. Your backing gets you the entire game. Precinct is intended to be a 5-game series spanning multiple years. I have changed the text accordingly.
And at the time we all posted, there was no FAQ yet.

Mystery solved, yes?

Oh, I like that. It looks like Avadon but with creative inspirations, I'll keep an eye on that one.

Consider adding Balrum : http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/balconyteam/balrum

We can never have too many large, sprawling, detailed RPGs. I also like to help a couple of ambitious young developers on their first big project.

Edit: Whoops, I just noticed this was already posted.

Is it just me or does that game look a heap like Eschalon... like heaps like Eschalon... like it's almost like the took the art style from Eschalon and made a different game with it...

anyone?

The preorder for this has been up for quite a while with (IIRC) promises of a beta in July. Starting a KS for it now tells me this dev has no idea what the hell he's doing, so I'm not expecting much.

No its not just you. When I first saw the video, I swore that I had seen that game before.

The devs do cite Eschalon as an inspiration and in the pitch video they state they have "Professional" art studio providing their artwork.

From that I infer that (as you intimated) they have basically gone and redrawn the art of Eschalon.

Having said that, I don't really think its such a bad thing if they deliver everything else they claim.
Gods Will Be Watching is looking great. There is already a free browser version I strongly recommend everyone to try.
Candle is a dynamic graphic adventure. It inherits the spirit of classic cinematic adventures like Out of This World or Flashback, and the gameplay mechanics of classic platformer adventures like Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus, or Heart of Darkness. However, we want it to go one step forward, and so we have brought together all the key features in those games to create a unique title focused on calm puzzle resolution but with a modern and dynamic control over the character.
