I did actually, although it's technically side-scrolling mechanically it's still just a turn-based dungeon crawler RPG, you could put that game in first-person 3D and it could still work the same, that's from what they've showed us of the game. This however is an action game, which is not my thing.

this looks nice but i don't think i will back it, unless it looks like it will struggle to reach its goal.
I recently discovered the campaign for Triggered, a game that is described as being designed, as the crowdfunding pitch puts it, "mirror trauma and mental illness" (judging by the description and title, I imagine that the particular focus is on trauma triggers). In terms of gameplay, it's described as a 2D Metroidvania.

To summarise the storyline description:
"The main character is Jobe, a man who discovers a monster-infested dungeon labyrinth beneath his home town. Intent on protecting his home, he descends into the dungeon. In combating the creatures encountered therein, he grows stronger, and develops powers that aid him in against the monsters of the dungeon.

Powers over which he has little control; powers which lash out at his fellow villagers just as readily as at the monsters of the dungeon."

For myself, I really like the idea. I don't know how well the mechanics might convey the intended experiences of mental illness and trauma, but it seems to me to be at the least worth a shot.

At time of writing the campaign is--if my maths is correct (and depending on the relevant timezones)--about 24 days in, with about 21 days remaining, and has raised $735CAD
of the $12,000 goal--not a great start, but a start, at least. I believe that the project is under Indiegogo's "Flexible Funding" system, so even if it doesn't raise the full amount the money donated does go to the developer, which is something.

I just stumbled into Pale blue. The story seems interesting, and I generally tend to enjoy a side scroller action adventure. They mention it will involve stealth too, and I would like to see another mark of the ninja. That said, there's just not that much mentioned about gameplay, and that puts me off.

With the early bird game tier being "only" 10$, I think I'll hesitate until I see there are less than a hundred early bird options left, and then back feeling pressured. But still, I thought I'd bring it up here and see if there's any discussion on it I can lurk on and use to decide.

im not sure if im supposed to be helping or hindering ^_^

but my main issue that will decide back or no back is if its going to be DRM-free.
and the GOG.com possibilities for backers game code acquisition should they make it past atlas the GOG bear into the catalog.

i PM'd em to see what the verdict was potentially.

they did mention Steam as their focus, and im not going to dive in to back a Steam exclusive.
they do mention Desura as a 'DRM-free channel' but Desura also sells games that only generate a Steam key.

loved the monster you play as it reminds me of that manga Parasite with the monster taking over the arm, and eating humans.

I know I said I was going to lurk on it, but that's a good point. And I don't want to back if there's no GOG key, as if it makes it later I'd end up buying it again over here.

But more importantly, now you left me wondering if the Parasite aliens ate the humans or just assimilated some at the beginning and simply killed the rest (eating their head being just the easiest way for it). I'm pretty sure they at least didn't "retrieve information from anything (she) devours" like here. I guess it'll be Prototype-style? Dunno, it could be really good, or it could be a piece of crap.

Can you back out of a deal on KS, before it's funded?

of course.
until the final hour you can modify it or cancel.

*unless your the 'pledge' that puts it over the goal line, then you have to wait til you wouldnt put it back under the goal.
(unlikely unless your a 10k pledge-er or something)
IIRC

The problem for devs on Kickstarter when it comes to GOG is, there is no guarantee GOG will even sell once its completed (ie if the game turns out to be shit and doesnt meet the GOG criteria, what do you think the likelihood of getting a gogkey as a KS backer for a project? -- not very high at all - hell some devs never heard of GOG and even worse some are blinkered where its Steam or nothing)- so i guess in a way its a hard call. Having said that, they *should* be able to at least confirm if DRM free *before* a project closes --- it doesnt happen in a number of cases and people wanting DRM free dont get it cause dev either thinks its too hard/scared of game being spread around the internet... the usual crap.

Ah true, on kickstarter you only get charged if the project gets funded. I always forget that because I keep seeing ours. It gets confusing somehow.

I guess I'll back, kinda reserve the early bird, and then bring up the DRM matter on the backer comments. I can always back out later if I don't like where it's going. Plus, my boss just told me he'd look into the 6k€ he owes me, which is always good, so I can afford a little disposable income.

It does seem interesting, but you are right about how little gameplay they show.
Hard call.

Previous games from the developer seem to be mobile games, too, and those typically leave a tiny little bit to be desired when it comes to gameplay. Not a great confidence builder.

Seriously, I don't know why I'm fixated on this game today. Normally don't care so much about them, I mean I have hundreds I could be actually playing instead of investigating something that might be good to play next year.
