ddickinson: Sorry to hear about your workload. It can't be easy translation for three hours and grading all those texts. Me and my partner love going to see plays. What kind of play are you going to see?

FearfulSymmetry: At least it's a job, though I have yet to see any money. Universities' administrations are notoriously slow. :P

I really love plays as well! I'm going to see Shakespeare's "As you like it". I'll be travelling to England in May for a course on plays, and I'll be seeing it in the Globe theatre then as well. My professor thought it would be a good idea if we went to this production as well (although it's in Dutch) in order to be able to compare them later. Next month, I'll be seeing Romeo and Juliet, and the month after that it's an adaption of King Lear - only with a queen instead of a king this time. And the month after that I'll be heading to England to see yet more plays. :P
I never thought about it before, hearing Shakespeare in anything other than Old English would sound very strange to me.

I love Shakespeare plays. I have been to the Globe theatre a few times, the last time I went I saw A Midsummer Night's Dream. It's quite interesting seeing it on a replica of the stage it would have been performed on the first time. It makes you realise how big play houses are these days, compared to the Globe theatre. London has some great shows on, not just plays but also ballets, musicals, operas and lots of other things as well. Hopefully you will enjoy yourself and see some lovely plays.

moonshineshadow: Ah so it was just sporadic +1 and not one post receiving enough to get high rated :D
So you'll just have to live with it. How about I give you some of my tiramisu icecream and you stop complaining about rep you deserve? :P

Well we are backward, compared to rest of the world:-)

You mean Middle English? ;) Actually, Shakespeare might even be Early Modern English, I'm not sure. It is rather easy to understand for modern speakers. Yes, it's rather odd and I don't really like it. Some translations are pretty good, but it's never quite the same. Unfortunately, because I'm in the Netherlands, Shakespeare is usually performed in Dutch here. It's yet another reason why I'm excited to go to England to see some of these plays!

That's so awesome! I've learned about the Globe in my courses on theater, but I've never actually been there, so I'm really excited to go and experience it for myself. I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun. My best friend is coming along on the trip as well, and our schedule so far is looking great, so I'm sure it will be amazing.

When I was there last, there were some American (or Canadian) tourists who were complaining at the size of it. They seemed to think that the Globe theatre was the size of a modern arena. They did not consider that there were fewer people 500 years ago, and that very few people would be able to see the shows. The plays are nicely done, quite authentic for the most part.

If you get to see some other shows while you are there, and if you are into ballet, then I can recommend the Royal Opera House. The shows they put on are wonderful.

I think that the fact you are on GOG and not Steam, shows that you have an IQ above 100. :-)

We could do with one of those and all... only thing is I'm worried that when the elections come we'll get someone even worse :/
