EndreWhiteMane: If you heard them announce:
"Hi this is you British Airways captain speaking.
We are giving you a special price today because we are doing 'one last test' on this plane before selling it.
But don't worry our mechanic is the best. Have a nice day."
You'd take a bus. :-)
Or a boat. :-)
But a commercial airline is slightly different than a small 2 person biplane. Also, why would the plane have passengers on board if it was a test flight prior to it being sold? And who are they selling it to? British Airways is a commercial airline company, not airline manufacturers. :-)
Besides, my friend would not have offered if there was any risk. It's kind of like a car manufacturer taking the car for one last drive before he sells it to the public. The advantages with these old biplanes is that they can glide quite nicely should there be engine failure. While this wouldn't mean a safe landing, it does give you a better chance than a jet engine. Plus we had parachutes, just in case.
budejovice: I dislike bouncing around in the air, so thought I would always hate smaller planes.
If you don't like bounding around, then I think the older planes are not for you. I loved it, I could have stayed up there for hours having lots of fun. Kind of makes me want to buy the Red Barron game :-). But without a joystick it would just be silly.
And why no loop? It was the best part.
