I did say test "one last time", it wasn't like it was the first test. Plus my friend is great with engines, she has been doing it for going on 40 years. This is a woman mechanic we are talking about, not some guy doing a poor job just to sell more parts :-). I would think a guy your age would be more adventurous. I'm sure you would love doing a loop and seeing all the lovely countryside. :-)

I have never been a pilot, but I sure did love Microsoft Flight Simulator as a kid in the 80s! That made me want to fly, then I flew enough to realize I hated it. :)

I got fairly comfortable with commercial flight in the 90s - flew around the US and to Europe a bunch - but after 9/11 I just hate it now too.

I dislike bouncing around in the air, so thought I would always hate smaller planes. I finally took a float plane from Seattle to Victoria a few years ago and it was as smooth as glass. We didn't go much above 1000m though and the weather was probably incredibly settled.

But a commercial airline is slightly different than a small 2 person biplane. Also, why would the plane have passengers on board if it was a test flight prior to it being sold? And who are they selling it to? British Airways is a commercial airline company, not airline manufacturers. :-)

Besides, my friend would not have offered if there was any risk. It's kind of like a car manufacturer taking the car for one last drive before he sells it to the public. The advantages with these old biplanes is that they can glide quite nicely should there be engine failure. While this wouldn't mean a safe landing, it does give you a better chance than a jet engine. Plus we had parachutes, just in case.

If you don't like bounding around, then I think the older planes are not for you. I loved it, I could have stayed up there for hours having lots of fun. Kind of makes me want to buy the Red Barron game :-). But without a joystick it would just be silly.

And why no loop? It was the best part.

DD, I'm just giving you a hard time. I KNOW it was OK, it's just that whole 'plane testing' thing struck my funny bone.

How is the snow where you are? Is it due to get worse or better?

Right now the snow's over, the wind stopped and it's cold as hell. (-16C)
Maybe a little more snow over the next few days, biggest problem is the ice on the trees. Had power outages all over (not here, all of ours are underground) and chopping out the cars from the ice was fun.
Typical Iowa winter all in all.

Well at least you have those three Mormon nurses to keep you company while you are snowed in. Just be careful when the snow melts, they may try and make a break for freedom. :-)
