CarrionCrow: Sounds like the Nazis were sore losers on that one.

Agreed. Better way to look at things all around.
True, but I think it was just an excuse, they did lots of horrible things. I also noticed that whenever I refer to the horrible stuff of the War I always say Nazi's and not Germans. I tend to keep the two separate. Yes the Germans were fighting, but most were just fighting for their country, just as we where, they were no different to us really, many of them forced to fight in a war they had not wanted, just like us. But the Nazis were the evil ones in the war, the ones who orchestrated such atrocious acts. I guess I don't think it is fair to blame the Germans as a whole for what the minority did. I doubt that most of the Germans were all for the mass genocide, or even the Nazi regime itself, hence all the resistance movements throughout Germany even before the war.

It sure is, plus if it is really good news then it is even more welcome and happy news. :-)

moonshineshadow: Don't worry that is fine *big hug*
If would recommend you two different games. Both are older, if you want something newer let me know.

Zeus & Poseidon: This is the latest of the Ceasar type games and if you want to try one of them out, choose this. The reason for that is that they really improved many mechanics and it plays really well. Definitely my favourite one of the series even if I like the Egypt theme of Pharao more, but the mechanic improvements just make it a much better game. In my opinion the game is good at easing you intohow things work, you start with some easy mission where everything is slowly explained to you and you don't need to deal with everything at once. It also has a nice atmosphere and some cool stuff later on like building temples for the gods and hero halls to get some greek heros to sent them on a quest for the glory of your city :D

Anno 1602: Another great game. Here you are not playing some ancient civilisation but instead you are going to settle on one or several islands and try to advance from almost nothing to a nice society and supplying your settlers with all the goods they might need / want. This game also starts easy with slowly easing you into things, so regarding this point you can just choose the one that appeals to you more. What is als nice that it has some nice voiceovers for informing you when some resources are getting scarce etc. (I can still remember some of them) - I hope they are also nice in the English version.

If you want to know anything more specific about them, just tell me ;-)
Thank you very much. I will take a look at them and see about adding them to my wishlist and give them a try. I do like the look of them, but for some reason I have just never really given games like those a try, but at the moment I am trying to expand my tastes a little. Not sure why, boredom most probably. :-)

I would say try them. Perhaps get these two during the winter sale when they are cheap and then just try them out. I have to say I find them really fun and also relaxing since they are not hectic or stressful and slowly building up your city is enjoyable. At least to me :D

How can I refuse. I have added them to my wishlist. And don't worry, if I don't like them I will lie so you won't get mad, just like Gothic. :-)

To a wishlist that seems to be hidden?
*grumbling hug* Like I told you before, if you don't like the games just tell me, I'll somehow be able to deal with it :P

What do you mean hidden? Oh no, it must be broken. :-)

I know, I was only being playful. I did enjoy the little bit I played, or at least I did not hate it, and I am looking forward to trying it some more. Unlike Risen. I tried that and I am not sure, but for some reason I did not like how it controlled, it felt a little like a bad console port. Granted it was just a very quick play and I might give it another try someday, but I just did not get a good vibe from that one.

Haha, nice try with the broken wishlist. But ok for now. Also I still have a screenshot I did last week :P
*big hug*
But around Christmas time I might pressure you a bit to show it again :D

I hope you'll enjoy it when you play a bit more of Gothic. And if you like it, you can get Gothic 2 which is even better :-)
I have to say I enjoyed Risen, but I am also not a person who is bothered much about control stuff or fighting mechanics etc. Which is probably also the reason why I enjoyed Risen 2 which many people did not like because of the fighting mechanics. But for me it is more about the story and the atmosphere and as long as I can kill all the enemies with my sword everything is fine :P

Don't worry, I promised you I would show it and I will. But while you were away lots of people were picking on me and being big bullies and telling me to add all the games to my list, even those I am only slightly interested in. So I have been doing that, which means the wishlist is full of games I might want to keep on but that I need to double check. I will show it again once I am finished, I promise.

I definitely did not get the feeling I would hate Gothic, in fact I think I will like it. I added Gothic 2 and 3 onto my wishlist as they do look like good games. Hopefully I can start playing some more games soon, but at the moment it still makes me feel quiet ill due to my migraines. Normally I don't mind controls either, but there was just something about Risen that put me off, I can't really explain it. But I will give it another try someday, just incase it was a bad day to try it. I did find it amusing that the woman you meet at the beginning has boobs bigger than her head, which always adds to the realism of the world. :-)
I just had the thought of GOG starting the next sale today, just as a massive goof...

Of course it was. Massive sadism combined with that excuse and the power to do what they wanted.

Right. Can't condemn an entire country for the acts of some of the people there.

Even GOG would not be that evil. :-)

Sadly many people do seem to condemn them all, not just the Germans and the War but with most cultures and things like that. I guess that is just part human nature, perhaps.

Why did I think the staff picks would be interesting the day after a sale? :-|

*big hug* Ah yes, I can understand that you want to double check it before making it public again :-)

Like I said, Gothic 2 is really great. The best of the three Gothic games :-) And the third one is also fun, but install the community patch before you start playing it, since it was a bit unpolished due to the trouble brewing between PiranhaBytes and Jowood and due to the forced early release (and don't waste any money on the AddOn for the third one. It was just a horrible piece of shit - but no wonder since it was not done by PiranhaBytes).
In regards to Risen I have to admit I can't remember this woman you are talking about, I mean I remember the game end everything but not this boob thing. Tells you how much attention I pay to something like that ;-)
So the weekly promo is just a repeat of a bundle form the Autumn Promo?

I remember you telling me about the Gothic 3 expansion, which is why I kept it off my list and didn't even bother checking it as I remember hearing a little about it before.

It was right at the beginning of the demo, you wash up at the beach and there is a woman who tells you to find a weapon, then some big birds attack you. Me and my partner and sometimes two of my sister-in-laws love to get together and have a few glasses of wine and have some fun playing some Xbox or PC indie games that are usually full of sexism, misogyny, and other things like that, so I tend to notice stuff like that in other games more and smile, especially when it seems out of place. We enjoy playing them and making fun of it all, it is a lot of fun, even if it sounds a little silly.

Great, now you are making me wonder if I imagined the big boobs in Risen. :-)

Yep.
City builders, like you were asking about. Maybe it's a sign ;-)

But the wrong city builder games. GOG is just being evil. :-)

Like I said, I remember the scene, but not the boobs. But that does not make it untrue, so no need for you to go check it. I just don't pay attention to that and therefore tend to forget such details.
