l0rdtr3k: *hugs Agent*
Hi Agent. How're doing?
*hugs Blob*
A bit lost in my own mind today, but otherwise I'm doing okay. Smiling :-)

ddickinson: You forget Owl is an Owl, so eating people is not cannibalism for her. :-)

How are you today, Mr Agent?
Ahhhh... I do forget that. The eyebrows always fool me :-)

I'm okay. A bit upset about my sleep. Seems that I'm even having mood swings in my dreams now :-\
Other than that, things are pretty hunky-dory.

Sorry to hear about your sleep. But I am glad that other than that you are doing hunky-dory. *big sleep better hug*

I just remembered where I learned the word "hunky-dory". I'm pretty sure it was said in Syberia. I don't think I've ever heard it anywhere else :-p

I am not sure where I first heard the term, but I have know it for years. I have not played any of the Syberia games yet, they are part of my ever growing backlog. I think I still have 90% left to play. Although I have only stopped one game that I bought due to it being bad or not appealing to me, and that was Mousecraft.

*looks at library*
83.9% of mine still needs to be completed. I play almost everything, but I rarely finish games. I'm not sure why. I guess I just get distracted and start playing something else before finishing the last one.
I don't know of any games here on GOG that I've stopped just because I didn't like them. There have been a few at other locations though. I got Super Meat Boy in a Humble bundle, and... well... I doubt many people complete that one. Too difficult for me; I don't even want to try anymore :-p

edit : Hooooo crap. Please don't tell Owl that I've never heard of the David Bowie album "Hunky Dory" ,'',',',',',:-|

I tend to stick with a game until I complete it, which can be annoying sometimes, but once I start something I want to see it through to the end. I have a few games on the go at one time so I can take breaks between playing my main game.

I just found Mousecraft to be dull, I did not really like the presentation, the lack of information on controls if you happen to miss the opening tutorial popup, and some other things. The game was just so repetitive and boring with no real charm to it.

Oh, and I am sure I will hate Blackwell as well, as I hear those games are horrible with rubbish storylines. ;-)
*hides before Agent get's mad about my Blackwell comment*

What do you call that procedure where they stick spikes through your eyes and into the brain?

I used to do that. After playing through two incredibly boring games in a row that I hoped would get more fun but never did (Dead Island and FEAR 3), I changed my mind :-p These days, if I'm not having fun, I'm able to stop myself from continuing.
Additionally, I don't feel too pressured to complete a game if I am having fun. If I'm having fun, it means the game was worth it. Finishing it is just a bonus to me.

*hears a less-than-amazing comment about Blackwell and burns down the solar system* ,','',',',',>:-O
I'm always worried that I hype up Blackwell too much for those who haven't played it yet...

That procedure is a lobotomy. Through the eyes is nicknamed an "ice-pick lobotomy". [/sad that I know so much about it]

I tend to be quite picky with the games I get, so luckily most are quite fun, and none that have been so boring they change the way I play.

But if you burn the solar system down you will also burn Blackwell?
Don't worry, not everyone will respond to a game the same. There are games that some hold dear that others hate, some that have stories that some can relate to that others can't relate to at all. The important thing is that you like it, so don't worry.

That is the word I was thinking of. For the last few hours it feels like that is what someone is doing on my left eye. I keep getting stabbing pains behind the eye and in the brain, which is not too pleasant. Granted I get the stabbing pains in my head all over recently, but the eye part is new and a little annoying.

Meanwhile, I take the "shotgun approach" to buying games. "Only a dollar? Who cares if it is about lesbian Nazi hookers abducted by UFOs and forced Into weight loss programs. I'm in!" :-p

Ho yeah... I forget that burning down the solar system has consequences. *just burns Jupiter, instead of everything*
Still, I don't want to get people's hopes too high about Blackwell, or about anything.

Hm :-( I can only imagine how annoying that is. I'll go with the standard response that we tend to give around here - "don't overdo it"... if being in front of a screen makes it worse, maybe take a break.
*really big comforting and healing hug*

But I don't really play DRM games, so I miss out on all the dollar bundles with lesbian Nazi hookers. :-)

That is understandable. I hate giving games reviews as I always worry my opinion will either put someone off who might have loved it, or persuade them to buy it and then they end up hating it.

I am on my tablet so I only look at the screen now and then, but the screen doesn't really effect it, I get the pains no matter what I do. If it was the screen I would be keeping far away as the pain is quite bad a lot of the time. It is just part of the whole health stuff I get to enjoy at the moment. :-(

So you would play them if they were DRM-free? :-)

Well... As long as it isn't making things worse, I guess it is nice to have some sort of distraction in front of you.
*many, many more big and comfy hugs* :'-|

I would. I mentioned earlier to Moon and before to Crow that sometimes that mea and my partner get together with two of my sister-in-laws and we have a nice evening with a few glasses of wine and we play horrible indie games and horrible games. We just joke and have fun with the game, making fun of how bad the game is and highlighting all the terrible stuff, which with Xbox indie games seems to be a lot of sexism and stuff. I think we would have some giggles with a lesbian Nazi game and how terrible it would be. But would I play it seriously myself? Not a chance in hell would I play anything like that normally outside of making fun of it with my partner.

It is nice, although I do try my hand at lots of other stuff to keep me occupied, but I have to be careful what I can do and to make sure I don't push myself too hard while I am stuck at home as that will make my partner worry if I do more than I should.

Oh yeah, I saw that conversation. It's nice you can get together and laugh about games like that.
By the way, I did notice the rather obvious chest of the woman at the beginning of Risen. I guess that's no surprise though, since I'm the audience for that :-p I notice those types of things (like bikini armour *rolls eyes*) and used to let it bother me, but these days I don't take any entertainment too seriously. I'll just have fun and try to laugh at the silly things.
I think it is very rare that developers intentionally try to be sexist or hurtful. I think they are just idiots. And being an idiot myself, I can relate to that ;-p
