Beautiful :-o
I only played about 15 hours of it, 2 years ago, but it looks like Skyrim? e__ô

NoNewTaleToTell: Two Worlds 1 is actually pretty enjoyable. Some areas of the game world are beautiful, there is an insane amount of unique loot (I spent over 30 hours in the game and was constantly finding new stuff even at the end), a fun crafting system (combine two identical items to create a stronger version, magic works the same way via cards) and a huge world. Oh and you can use your horse as a pack animal AND call it if you're near it.
*Two Worlds suddenly moves up a few places in my backlog*
I always forget that I have it... and every time I see it in my library, I say "what the hell is this?" :-p

pimpmonkey2382.313: Yep starting to recover, and also starting to recover from last night too. :P
Great to hear, on both counts! ;-)

The biggest issues with Two Worlds is that the writing isn't particularly good, there aren't a ton of quests compared to the sheer size of the game world and there are few unique NPCs. Plus the music isn't that good.

Two Worlds 2 has VASTLY improved production values in all aspects (graphics, music, voice acting etc) and much much better writing from what I've seen, but it doesn't have the same charm of the first game, the fighting system has been overhauled a bit (for better or worse), the new UI is atrocious and it's no longer a true open world. It also retconned the ending of the first game, which is fairly annoying.
I agree with your take on part 1. I was surprised that the music by Harold Faltermeyer was so... generic. It's not bad or annoying, just... not very memorably. Also I found the difficulty really going up and down... very strange balancing. I not the "looter" type - that's why I rarely play ARPGs. I prefer a good story and quests, and looking forward to that one +5 Blade of Extreme Slaying that the merchant sells for 50,000 gold (while I have 100...). :-)

Actually I liked part 2 quite a lot. Combat is fun, the magic system is just outright crazy (perfect stuff for tinkerers, so many possibilities!). It's actually quite open until you run into the prelude to the finale. Animations are not that good, esp. in combat, and that huge continent you're looking forward to is actually playable only in two small areas (see: finale). There's a mod that unlocks it, but since there is no story/quest content there it's only useful for looting :-/
Also the final battle is total shit. Like crappy fucking kickthedevelopersintheface shit.
The expansion (Pirates of the Flying Fortress) again improves a lot over the main game. It's actually a self-contained story, and I would really recommend it. It has no real weaknesses, is beautiful, and the soundtrack is of the best I've ever heard.

toxicTom: Hmm. Depends on what type of completionist you are. There are not many recurring characters, but you should probably know how the story of the first ended.

3287...
I see. Thanks. Well then i guess playing the series in order might not be a bad idea then.
And about Skyrim...the time thingy is a mod right?

Edit: Oops, thought you were asking for opinions on Two Worlds vs Two Worlds 2, blame my slow connection today!
Doesn't like an enjoyable game - doesn't have to be perfect to be enjoyable :)

Mod of a mod really. Some time display mod for the SkyUI mod. It also shows the RL time in loading screens - so you can get a heart-attack seeing that it's 3:30 am already...

I was never able to get as "into it" as I did with the other ES games. I couldn't quite figure out why, either. It looked great and played great, but it just felt like it didn't have the same "heart" that the others did. Dunno, maybe I was just in a bad mood. I'll have to give it another go sometime.

No idea what the new pic is, but it looks really nice :-)

Nice. I actually never modded Skyrim much (only the unofficial patches and the Paarthunax fix)...i even played with the original UI.
That was the College of Winterhold if i'm not mistaken....

No idea on the new pic though...but it looks cool.

Yeah I ended up ridiculously rich in Two Worlds, I think I ended with well over five hundred thousand bucks, almost all of that earned from looting.

I really need to dig into Two Worlds 2 then, I'm only a few hours into it and am struggling for motivation to play more of it, but part of that is due to bows feeling a little nerfed. At the least I should try Pirates of the Flying Fortress because I've heard a ton of good things about it, including just now from you!

I think the "heart" of Skyrim lies in the landscape and views, and the little details (like you drop a good sword, and someone comes up to you and asks if they have it, or some guardsman scolds you you shouldn't litter the street with sharp and pointy objects).
The "meat" of TES lore is a bit lost in this game, actually Morrowind is the best game in this regard.

I found the original UI pretty unbearable... And I've used quite a few mods, mostly to improve immersion (darker, well, darkness, real moving cart travel...)

And yes it's the College of Winterhold from below.

I played mostly melee based and used ranged combat only for the occasional cheap shot when enemies couldn't reach me. It was fun, but as I said, the animations are sometimes off.

I started playing quite shortly after it was released and at that i wasn't happy aboutit either but i actually didn't think of modding it so got used to it - but i guess i'm going to use SkyUI next time i play it :)
They sound great.
Good Morning! :)
I'm, again, super tired... wish I could contribute or read your stories but I am having the concentration skills of a kolibri at the moment... or what I presume is the concentration skill of a kolibri. I mean. Eh. Yeah. All that.

Among The Sleep would be a great metal band name. Maybe orchestral black metal or something like that.
