ddickinson: Oh yeah, I remember you telling me that before. I don't understand why the USA does that. I mean, if you are watching a documentary you are wanting to learn, so I would rather have a guy who is incredibly knowledgeable, world renowned and respected, and passionate about his work than just generic hollywood celebrity. I hear that they once used Opera (the person, not the browser) on one of them. Apparently Canada sold the UK and USA version and the UK ones sold out and no one bought the USA one. :-)

AgentBirdnest: Hey, careful with the word "generic" when you talk about my Sigourney ;-p
I thought we liked British voices. Every reality show has a British person. Many of our superheroes are played by British people in the newest movies. And we are obsessed with Mr Potter ;-)
I heard that about the USA DVDs getting poor sales. Even here, many people that I knew preferred to get the original British version.

Emob78: In space, no one can hear your Sigourney Weaver-voiced space vagina scream. - ha, see what I did there? XD
avatar
AgentBirdnest: I think I can only respond to this with a face.

õ__Ô
Well, when a giant space vagina screams at you, it does tend to leave one speechless. I understand your apprehension at attempting verbal communication.

I forgot that she was very special to you. You do know she hates peanut butter? (I have no idea if that is true) :-)

I guess they (the USA people in charge) figured a hollywood celebrity would boost sales. Maybe they figured the general public would be more interested and that the increase in casual sales would cover any loss from people who actually like documentaries who stay clear as they want a documentary, not some hollywood stuff. Apparently the hollywood versions are dumbed down quite a lot. I heard many people hated the Opera version due to that. I guess again it was an attempt to make it appeal to more people. Which I don't get, as documentaries are quite open to everyone, kids love them, adults love them. But I guess they wanted the general crowd and not just a small number.

Well, whatever the case, I think most people agreed that it was a stupid idea. Apparently they didn't learn anything, because Alec Baldwin narrated Frozen Planet :-\
Oddly enough, the narrator for the US version of "Blue Planet" was British - Pierce Brosnan ô__ô
I give up.

Pierce Brosnan is Irish, not British. :-)
If anyone cares, Terraria is in Halloween mode. :D

And Pierce Brosnan is only one thing, smokin'. :P I am as strait as an arrow but if he asked me to have sex with him I'd have to very seriously consider it. :P
Good morning!

I see tension rising here. There is a threat of war.
I don't know if I should take sides or remain neutral (or maybe play both sides...)

Well, he is not American, yet he narrates the American version of Blue Planet :-p

Thanks for the heads up :-)

I knew I couldn't the only one! Indeed, he's not bad at all... ,','',:-^

Thank you for the reminder, tinyE!
It seems I have discovered the Pierce Brosnan bromance fan club. :-)

Morning, Leo!

Be like Sweden in WW2. Say that you are neutral, but secretly help the Germans. (I'm probably getting my history wrong. Could a historian help me out here?)
Hi People, happy Tuesday :-)

Lovely October day here - cool and crisp and just right for the ghouls to come out and play later :-)

How is everyone?
Can't wait to see what new release awaits us today.

I'm about ready to fill my face, too, although I don't have any Dutch/Belgian biscuits (yes, I just looked it up) :-)

What an exotic life you lead in deepest darkest YoouTar.

Probably toast for me, with some mildly poached gazelle and a bucket of custard...
