I only just heard about this, didn't believe it, and did some Wikipedia research. Has anyone else studied Varying Speed of Light Theory in school? We were only presented with Inflation, which has a few astronomical* holes in it. I took inflation as the best (and only) option, but from what I'm reading, I like VSL far better.

If I'm reading correctly, this guy ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo%C3%A3o_Magueijo ) came up with it using pure mathematics. I found that to be fascinating.

Anyhoots, wondered what some of you armchair physics buffs thought. I'm physics-smart, but not reddit physics people smart. :)

*pun intended. Namely, reversing entropy in a closed system requires another system, which may or may not have existed.
what is inflation, does that mean that the compact space-time manifold "universe" is rising in its volume through dark matter, respective the belonging measure?

Doing all right here. Ran some errands, taking a break in between doing housework. Now it's talking here, watching some reviews and keeping an eye on the Battletech Kickstarter. Only 738 thousand and change to go. Everything after that is gravy, really.

Inflation is the increase in size of the nothing between matter that occurs far faster than the speed of light. Since nothing has no mass, then it doesn't invalidate Einstein's speed limit.

Dark matter does not inflate b/c it has mass.

The problem with inflation is that the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) shows exceptional temperature homogeneity throughout the universe WAY before that could ever happen. To get the CMB that we see while assuming inflation is true, either a very organized energy/mass universe would have interacted with it in ways that defy physics or thermodynamic laws were reversed/broken. But variable speed of light solves the problem. And it solves the problem while getting to it through pure math (and other methods). I'm rather lost on the exact math, but it involves getting things down to plank units and then solving for different variable. In doing so, c became a non-c. It became c(t). And c(low t) was astronomically huge.

Can't gauge the meds' effects, but the cool weather definitely helps. Almost fell asleep earlier waiting for a roommate to get done with an appointment.

Frozen lasagna here. No one wants to tear up the kitchen so soon after people cooked a lot and turned it into a huge mess.

before i go on, i'll have to ask, if my knowledge is enough to discuss with you further about this. i have almost no knowledge about experimental physics, my knoledge is complete covered by this book (physics, tipler)

my knoledge in theoretical physics covers mechanics and advanced mechanics, classic field theory/electrodynamics, quantum mechanics, higher quantum mechanics (but no quantum field theory), basics of special relativity, statistical physics. no astrophysics or general relativity.
