ddickinson: At least that helps to break the Steam monopoly, but it is bad news in general. Especially as many of these publisher exclusive platforms have worse DRM than Steam. I imagine that they (big publishers) will all be doing it soon.

Good evening, Crow! How are you, I hope you have had a nice day? DId you get all the downloading done?

avatar
moonshineshadow: Good question. Not sure of that myself ;-)

ddickinson: I bet it's not nice coming back from a lovely holiday to a boring course. Let's hope that things will pick up and be a little more interesting for you at work. That star stealing machine will not build itself. :-)
Problem is, it makes Steam look that much better by comparison. As much as I dislike them, I'd still do business with them before EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda or Blizzard.

Good evening to you, also. =) I'm glad to read that you had a good time and enjoyed yourself, even if you did get falling down silly drunk. -laughs- ;)

Can't complain here, just finished off another level of Shadow Warrior.
The combination of sword swinging and special abilities really makes that game enjoyable.

Yes, finished off the downloading yesterday afternoon or evening. Ended up with a few extra titles so it took longer, but I now have it all.
Funny thing is, I now need to set up means of backup, since it's eaten two-thirds of my hard drive space.

Goodnight Moonshine. Sleep well and pleasant dreams!

ddickinson: Glad to hear your new laptop is on the way. What games will you be playing first?
The games I was in the middle of before my current laptop died :P (KotOR 2, Jedi Knight DF 2, what else....)

Any idea why your laptop kicked the proverbial bucket? Hopefully you can salvage the hard drive, it sucks to lose save files! Well, other important things like work documents, family photos blah blah blah too, but mostly save files!

Oh the hard drive is fine (and I backed up my save files anyway), it's the motherboard that went out I think. I'll be using its hard drive in the new machine, it's still a good hard drive and everything =)

That's true. And I agree, I would rather trust a (kind of) impartial company over the publishers themselves.

It would take a lot more than I drank to get me falling over. We country folk know how to drink. I used to be able to drink the guys under the table when I was a student. Granted I don't drunk like that anymore, that all ended early in my student career. :-)

I am glad to hear you are done with your downloading. Are hard drives quite affordable in the US? That are not too expensive over here, so back up storage is never really a problem.

I should have know it would have been Star Wars games.

They were a nice lot of people and knew how to have fun.
Had a lot of Polish friends growing up, great people.
They always play Roll Our The Barrel at Busch Gardens.
I think I will call it a night. An early morning for me in the morrow.

I hope you all enjoy what is left of your evenings!

*goodnight hugs and some silly waves*

It shouldn't be too expensive. Maybe 120 dollars for a 3 terabyte. That'll be more than sufficient to store everything I need to back up.

Had to laugh when I saw 3TB, I'm playing Master of Orion 1 which weighs in at 23.6MB which includes DOSbox.
Amazing what devs can do when they have to. :-)
As someone looking to build a computer maybe later this year, is there any reason NOT to get one of those jumbo size (2 terabytes plus) internal hard drives?
