gunsynd: Yeah,I have the same problem until I get tired enough to sleep. But sometimes that doesn't work neither,so up I get again, take my dog for a walk although she gets pissed off when I wake her.:-)
avatar
CarrionCrow: I can see it now....
"All right, wake up, damn it. If I can't sleep, you can't sleep. Now stop whining, we're going for a walk."

Not a bad idea, but the dogs here are kinda dim even in broad daylight. If I tried to take them for a walk around here, where there are no streetlights at all, they'd probably freak out and try to run off.
Is it just a dog thing or is it a Yank thing(dim)too?
No streetlights, you live in the bush?:-)

-laughs- I'd say it's strictly a dog thing, since I would navigate outside (kinda sorta) rather than trying to run for some pitch-black field miles away like the dogs would if they had half a chance, no matter how suicidal it would be to do so. (We've got coyotes around, and I imagine a pack of them wouldn't mind killing a solo dog for the sake of a meal.)

I've never been out of this country, let alone had a chance to go to Australia, so I couldn't honestly say if the bush is similar or not.
Out here, it's just dust and weeds. If I went for a long enough walk, it'd be dust, weeds, more dust, more weeds, a fair bit of sand here and there, until I finally hit a mountain.

It's in the middle here. Out here, it's virtually nothing. Drive 20 minutes and you get something town-sized that's half dead and full of gaudy, half run-down, half trashy casinos.
I'd personally rather live in an actual city instead of the weird mashup between desolation and small town stagnation.

I can just imagine how much of a fun time you could get into being out in the bush. Getting poisoned by something, being straight-up killed by a predator or dying from dehydration.
Or at least that's how I envision a trip would go for me. -laughs-

I'm glad to hear you say that, because I was thinking while I typed, "What if you're totally wrong? I mean, sure, that's what you've heard about your whole life, but you just said yourself you'd never been there. What if you have no idea at all what the hell you're talking about?"

You saying that provides confirmation. If I ever get to go to Australia, I won't be going out in the bush because I don't want to die.

Killer koala bears, you say....-laughs-

It's funny....you say "our" bush. Must be interesting to actually feel connected to a place.
I wouldn't look outside and wonder about someone from another country walking around in "our" dust.
I'd just think, "They're going to get bored pretty godsdamned quick wandering around out in that crap terrain with nothing to look at or do."

Your talking to a person that is very proud of his Country.

Definitely a different perspective from mine. I keep wondering which other countries would be good to live in if I got the coin together to actually do it. -laughs-

It largely depends on where you're trying to live. Last I heard, my hometown was dealing with an enormous rent spike because people who worked on the coast of California kept moving inland looking for cheaper housing because even people with good paying jobs couldn't afford rent for places that were actually nearby.

Sorry about that, got sidetracked by an email I'd been waiting for.

I know that feeling, an acquaintance just got a house because their credit is immaculate and they work constantly.

But now, they've got to make sure they never get sick, never get injured and no matter what, never even think of quitting or changing their job until they've got something else set in stone, otherwise they'll lose the house and ruin their credit in one shot.

I'll probably be around for a while longer yet. What's that saying about wicked people never getting to take naps? ;)

Have a good night, and sleep well when you get there. =)

(P.S. - My shit stinks just as much as the next person's, and I am keenly, almost painfully aware of that fact. -laughs-)

Don't know any sayings about sleep off hand, except what my Mother used to say Xmas Eve.
Get to bed or Santa won't come or something like that..
