From what I've seen, the best chance Games Workshop has is with the Warhammer RTS that's being produced by the company that does the Total War series of games.
That could end up being great, but at the same time, they've gotten shredded by their fans due to their putting out games that are chock full of bugs at times, so they could screw it all up as well.

It's very clear that in the period of putting the copy-paste shitshow known as Soulstorm together and adapting Company of Heroes into Dawn of War 2 that Relic kinda said screw it to the whole "let's come up with new ideas" thing.
They spend their time making garbage DLC for things like camouflage patterns to nickel and dime customers for in Company of Heroes 2 currently. No confidence in them whatsoever at this point.

There are a few companies still trying to do something decent, but with Games Workshop seemingly not giving a crap about the quality of the items coming out, the really bad ones are doing damage and making customers less inclined to try the new ones by association.

But the Total War games are horrible now. Buggy and incomplete messes. Even the older games needed fan made mods to make them really enjoyable. I think the Warhammer game will just a re-skin, and full of all the same bugs and crap that the Total War series suffers from.

Perhaps Relic's change was due to the publisher cutting jobs there. I can't imagine Sega hiring more staff once they bought them out. Relic are probably still understaffed. Not that that is an excuse for putting out horrible games, but it might be one of the reasons.

Games Workshop has not really cared for a few years. They hired a few new higher ups (or seemed to at least), and since then it's all been going down hill. Which is a shame, as the lore is wonderful and so in-depth. I would take that over Star Wars lore any day.

I've pretty much avoided any interest in Total War aside from Shogun, so I wasn't fully aware of what a mess the games have been.
Odds are, the new Warhammer game is going to fail. Good to know.

Well, Relic was headed down a bad path when THQ was still around. It hasn't improved with Sega's fantastic leadership.

Was just digging around, and GW is losing money. Their stock prices are dropping. It might take a while, but if they don't change things they're going to crash and burn.
Maybe the company that ends up buying all things Warhammer-related will be able to pump some new life into the series.

GW have been losing money for a while. They started screwing over their fans, and this is what happens. For example, they keep changing the strengths and lore of the different factions. How would you feel if a company that you had invested lots of money in by buying models, and many hours painting those modes, suddenly changed things to make your army worthless? They are no longer fan orientated. They do what companies like Apple does. Rather than do what the customers want, they tell the users what they want and force them to do it their way (a bit like GOG recently). GW will be gone in a few years unless they can change. But to be honest, it's been like this for years, so I don't see them changing. Many if not all big companies eventually drive themselves into the ground for some reason.

But the graphics are quite poor. it looks like a 90s game. I am not a graphics snob normally, but modern games based on big brands should not look like 90s games. It's just laziness. Even games like Command and Conquer 3 looked better and that is 8 years old.

You know what I mean. Even the original DOW looks better. And that was 3D, the new one looks 2D. I does not look like a game made in 2014. I know that some games look good with this whole old school graphic look, but many do it to be lazy, and they get a free ride these days due to the whole "indie" or "retro" label. The game is also ridiculously overpriced for a game that looks like it does. Other might love it and think differently, which is fine, but personally I am not keen on it at all.

Edit: At least Storm of Vengeance only cost £2, not £30.
