CarrionCrow: And now, for the ridiculous comment that'll make you want to throw something at me....
The arctic death wind headed your way sure does make me appreciate my winter bullshit that much more! -laughs-
Believe it or not we complain about this all the time but it happens every year to some extent so we just grin and bear it. If it lasts a week or more than it's a different story entirely. ;)

AgentBirdnest: I had to get this off my chest - I just found out that workers at the local district court have been doing favors for friends and family.

There are people here whose lives have been destroyed by this corrupt court, and are actually killing themselves because of it. And the court workers are giving their friends free passes.

Pardon my language, but I hope these fuckers end up in fucking Supermax.
Your language is pardoned, imagine living in a country where that degree of crap is the rule rather than the exception.
The US certainly has more than it's share of it but it could be much worse.

Maybe I'm just intensely jaded, but hearing that does not surprise me in the slightest. Not even a little.
The real bitch of it will be when anyone who actually gets convicted ends up with nothing more than a slap on the wrist compared to the people with ruined lives that you mentioned.

CarrionCrow: Looks like there's a "stay inside or else you might frigging DIE" warning for your neck of the woods from midnight tonight your time to Thursday at 9 am your time.
avatar
EndreWhiteMane: Yep
So you just have to skip the midnight smoke this night. Else we have to place the frozen, viking snowman on the lawn tomorrow as a scarecrow to ward off the kids. ;-)

They'd just throw snowballs at me. ;)
Kind of OT but winter related. I have a web page bookmarked that shows me all the traffic on Lake Superior (its fun to track them as they go by my house). Half of the ships, they range from 800 t0 1200 feet long, are pulling into harbors for the night. When that happens you know it is a BAD BAD BAD BAD STORM. Kind of amazed I have a connection right now.

Yeah, looks like you're in for it again. Superior, the legendary ship eater, wise they're going to harbor for the night.
Hang tight, hope everything's OK for you tonight. We've got the cold but diddly (6in) for snow.
BTW: tracking the ships is something I'd have a lot of fun doing. ;)

Somebody was so nice to upload a libreoffice database file in a thread (for games :D), but I tried it and it doesn't work. Now I can't find the thread anymore and forgot the user's name =/

Anyway, there are tutorials on youtube. Don't have the time for it anyway at this point, though. And with that said, good night! =D

Yeah I'm fine, I hope you folks are okay what with me virtually living in here during the past few days of this storm. :D

Y'alls always welcome round these parts. Come on in, set a spell. Looks like I'll be here for a few too. ;)

Assholes aren't welcome. You're not an asshole.
You might be a dork for thinking we might all say for you to get the hell out of a thread that's open to all, but otherwise...-laughs-

Sorry to hear that you're having problems with your tech.
Goodnight, sleep well when you get there. =)

tinyE: I have 130 inches so far. Want some? :P
Call my neighbors Rainier & Baker when you get to 1000. :)

Joking aside, I don't envy your storms. I'm all with you on latitude, but I prefer a nice little ocean breeze. I was sweating on my walk to work today. (Though to be fair, I walk really fast. Was probably mid 40s.) That's mid 40s POSITIVE you Midwestern loons. :)

EDIT: We do have a nice thick fog that has rolled in this afternoon. A few blocks of visibility.

EDIT 2: -40 is really insane. That's a bad day at the summit of Denali, at 20,000' in Alaska.

EDIT 3: Yearly snowfall totals at Paradise (5400' on side of Rainier): http://www.nps.gov/mora/upload/annual-snowfall-totals-sep11-2.pdf 1122 was once the world record, now held by Mt. Baker at 1140 inches. That's about 30 meters of snow, for our non-American friends. :)

We get a Superior breeze which is pretty much the same as an ocean breeze, and in the summer that is fantastic so I can certainly relate. And I'm on the border with Canada so I don't know how mid-west I am though Michigan always gets called that. :P

I love geography, but my referring to everything between the Mississippi and the Rockies as the Midwest is, I'm sure, not accurate at all. Shorthand. :)

I do love my weather in WA. Our ocean breeze works in the summer as well: 90 degrees is a couple-times-a-year thing. But more power to those that can tolerate real winters.

I visited a friend in Lansing in about October of 2006. They didn't turn on the heat until it got "cold" - it was in the teens at night inside that house. Sheesh!

Dear gods....watching a mini Let's Play of Call of Cthulhu - Dark Corners of the Earth and remembering what a bug-riddled mess it was.
