moonshineshadow: I bet you did not know that and used a translater right? :P
avatar
ElTerprise: Actually i did. I don't know waht it means but i was in Dublin two years ago and got in contact with irish a bit (without ever understanding anything besides sláinte and fáilte).
Nice! And do I even want to know what the two words mean that you understand? ;-)
avatar
ElTerprise: Good to here :).

You weren't here, were you?
I felt really down yesterday evening after i heard that my uncle has a thrombosis in his leg. Still haven't heard anything new but i can't do anything from Hamburg anyway (he lives in central germany).
I was not here, and I am so very sorry to hear about your uncle. I hope he will be okay and that is is not too serious.

adaliabooks: I'm Irish, and while I recognise it as Irish I'd have to use a translator to know what it meant...
avatar
ElTerprise: So you can't really speak it?
Can't speak it at all, failte and slainte is about the extent of my knowledge too.
Oh, and póg mo thóin, but I'm not sure swearing counts ;)
avatar
moonshineshadow: Nice! And do I even want to know what the two words mean that you understand? ;-)
Well the one means 'cheers' (sláinte) and 'welcome' (fáilte) but don't ask for pronounciation ;)
avatar
moonshineshadow: *big return hug* I listened to some music, read a bit and played a bit Witcher 2 (would have played more if the crashes had not annoyed me) and enjoyed cooking. And I took a nice nap on my sofa :D
Good that you still had fun, perhaps the weather will be better next weekend and you can go horse riding then?
Do you think you will stick with the game, or do you think the crashing will eventually cause you to stop playing? Did you read anything nice? (I love sofa naps :-))

Since my partner works at the stables, we can usually borrow some horses at any time, provided they are available. So hopefully next week we can go riding and maybe have a nice picnic. But if not, then there are lots of fun indoor things to do.

Thank you. I hope so too but no news hopefully means good news (hopefully not 'good news', sorry i go for gallows humour in such situations) ...

I actually heard that that. It means 'kiss my ass' or something like that if i'm not mistaken. I got to know some of the irish words by reading novels by Ken Bruen :).

ddickinson: Hello, Tom!

I am glad to hear you have been enjoying a good movie. I guess you have had a hectic weekend, what with your comment about the good mood being badly needed?

*big return hug*
Ach, don't get me started, and I really need to go to bed now. Alarm goes in less than 6 hours. Let's just say it was a fairly frustrating day that was no fun for anyone and I feel really sorry for my kids who were on their own most of the day... but on the other hand behaved so disgustingly in parts that I really had problems keeping my temper. It was just shit and everyone felt bad about it in the end... :-(

I can probably answer that one at least..
Slainte: Slon - che
Failte: Fall - che

Of course, having said that I realise I'm not very good at phonetic spelling... XD

Yup, spot on :)

Can't say I've ever heard of him...

For now I will stick to the game, not sure if until the end, but probably so. I'll just play it in shorter sessions than I normally would.
As for reading, I started re-reading some of my favorite books :D

*approaches Irishman and hugs him very tight* Hello Irishman! How was your weekend. I caved in and contacted support about my KOTOR problem.
avatar
adaliabooks: I guessed as much ;)
Can't say I have any love for the Irish language after having it shoved down my throat for 12 years by a succession of awful teachers...

I'm fine thank you. Was working yesterday, but it's been a nice weekend anyway. Sounds like you've had a nice time :)
It reminded me of Montague's Mount, which has a lot of Irish language elements, but those have no real use. For example, non-interactive items had the Irish name with the English word smaller in brackets. however, all the letters that form the storyline are in English. Also, the games claims to be based on a true story, and it is not, I would go as far as saying the created just blatantly lied about that. The game for what it was was okay, but definitely now worth the price, and a few things just did not make sense (the ending, for example. And it was not that I did not understand the ending, I did, but some of the facts make no sense).

Glad to hear you are doing fine, and glad that you had a good day at work yesterday. I had a very nice weekend, despite the heavy rain that spoiled some of my plans.

Thank you.
What i found interesting when i was in Dublin was that irish terms were quite common but a lot of people didn't speak it very well.
(Garda Síochána was Garda Shi-cana iirc...?)

adaliabooks: I Yup, spot on :)

Can't say I've ever heard of him...
Yay ;).
Huh..that's interesting. I read some crime novels from him set in Galway...

Might have guessed it: I'm really fascinated in Ireland :)

A whole 6 hours sleep? What a light-weight (only joking). :-)

I am very sorry to hear you had such an unfortunate weekend. I was hoping you would have a wonderful long weekend. I will keep my fingers crossed that next weekend will be much better.

Had the sub-forum offered not hope in fixing the problem?

I love re-reading some of my favourite books, I usually do that when I am not able to give a new book the attention it requires, such as when I have such little time or I am too tired really to get into a new book like it deserves.

Hey l0rdtr3k,

Not too bad, just been playing Star Wars Rebellion and working. Unfortunately while I thought I was doing well, I fear the tide has turned and the Empire may soon crush my little rebel alliance... :(
But maybe that just means next time I should play as the Empire ;)

ddickinson: When do you think you will find out if he is okay?
Probably as soon as my aunt tells us. Unfortunately no one of my family here in Hamburg will be able to travel to Hesse in the next days...
