Emob78: Is anything over 7,000 square feet legally allowed to be called a 'shack?' Seems there's a bit of difference between 'shack' and 'imperial palace.' I'm not familiar with how shrink ray guns fit in with Canadian law.
And congrats on the holiday. You just had the most stereotypical vacation in Canadian history. Did you also ride along with the Mounties and beat people up at a Hockey game?
Shack ... mansion ... it's a blurry line.
My brother in law married into a whole lot of money. He's pretty out of touch with reality.
I drove 1800 km, and generally sped the whole way, except for while we were driving through the blizzard (another canadianism). I tried to avoid the Mounties. I watched a lot of hockey on TV - World Juniors and all that. No fights though.
CarrionCrow: Seven bathrooms? Guess that'd make sense if there was one person per room and everyone came down with explosive food poisoning at once. Otherwise? Seems like they stocked up on extras just to have them.
Glad to hear that you and yours had a good time. Quiet new year's here, but that's not a bad thing. Beats having obnoxious drunks everywhere. =)
My goal was to shit in all 7. I was only there for two days though, so that wasn't going to happen. I had to settle for peeing in each one.

The crazy thing about living without internet for a few days, was learning how pervasive the internet is to our daily lives:
"Let's go to the hot springs!"
"Are they open on Jan 1 - it's a holiday?"
"Let me check the internet ... oh"
"I'll call them"
"I'll look the number up for you ... oh"
And so on.
