moonshineshadow: Just start working somewhere, where everyone is talking English and you'll see after a few weeks you don't find it strange anymore :P
Yeah you're right. Something along those lines happened when i had a field trip to Oslo where we had simulation in english because there were Students from germany and norway. At some point we started talking english pretty much constantly even in the free time :).

CarrionCrow: Yeah...I'm going to die a lot. Also, I already hate the bard on general principles, but I don't get XP for knifing him in the face myself. Had to make him human, otherwise it'd start feeling like a neverending hate crime.
hahaha...probably better :).

CarrionCrow: All right, my Icewind party is loaded and ready to go, complete with a bard nicknamed Arrow Magnet who doesn't realize that his companions are just waiting for the right chance to use him as a human shield, and a cleric/mage named Shrieker who spends her time screaming endlessly and spitting at random passers-by, then shooting anyone who tries to confront her about it.

Feeling good about this run's chances of success...-laughing hard-

EndreWhiteMane: That sounds awesome. ;-)

Thanks to you and J0ekerr for the answer. I LOVE playing it this way, it was just odd not to find a log/journal.
The others I've tried keep track of everytime I blow my nose, takes some of the fun out it. :-)
That's one thing about JRPG's, they do expect you to remember stuff usually.
(Unless it's Final Fantasy 13, wherein you get a lot of information that no one in their right mind could ever even begin to give half a flying shit about...)

ElTerprise: And i'd like to add that dict.cc also offers idioms which i really like to use ;).
Interesting. So the RPGs are really educational after all :).

BTW: I always find it hilarious to talk/write/whatever with a fellow german or native german-speaker in english :).
LOL. Yes, games are very educational, and not just in terms of medieval weaponry ;-). I think I've learned most of my English trying to understand games and my favourite song's lyrics. Although at that age I missed a lot of... double meanings.

Actually it feels very strange for me to write German on a traditionally international site like GOG, that's why I gave the German section a try when it was introduced, but it has no real appeal for me. It feels... awkward.. to write in German.
I think in English most of the day, since I write code. All the keywords are English and so my code is English, methods, properties, even comments. I just like the harmony of having one standard language. I hate reading code with comments or even method names thrown in other languages, kind of spoils the purity good code should have.
I've set my Windows to English, install all applications in English (if possible) and only use German versions of games that are from Germany (like Gothic). I like a seamless experience working or playing on a computer.

Although I prefer metric units to imperial. :-)

j0ekerr: Is he black?

That'd be hillarious.

Tell the nice lady... Buggrit, millenium hand and shrimp!
The scary thing about your statement? The only picture in Icewind 1 that's clearly a bard is actually a guy with dark skin...
Thankfully, I'm confident in my hatred of nearly all things bard-related. I don't care if the guy's bright pink, if they're a bard I want them to die violently.

One nice thing about Pillars - your alignment and rep are dictated by what options you choose.
You can be known for several different types of disposition, based on how you talk to people. Feels a lot more organic than the preset alignment thing.

But that is a good thing. Nothing wrong with taking some notes while playing. I still remember drawing all these pictures of the puzzles in Myst to remember them :D
That is why I always have a memo pad next to me just in case.

Here, here for metric.
Wish we'd have changed over when we said we were going to.
Except for carpentry I think in metric now, it's weird. :-)

Agreed. It's not a bad thing. If anything, the ability to think is something the industry has largely moved away from.
avatar
moonshineshadow: Yeah virtual hug :D I also have a picture saved from before (see attachement) ;-)

I wish I had a big enough freezing compartment to do that with broth. When I'll move in one and a half year I will search so long for an apartment until I have one with a big enough kitchen :D
Ah, you saved that, how sweet. Here's a better one. :-)

I don't have much space either, and no standalone freezer. I just make the best with the small one that comes atop my fridge. Sometimes I need to take a step or two back when opening the door. :-)

toxicTom: That's what we did when we prepared our own baby food. Unfortunately nowadays, the only time we have for real, extensive cooking is the weekends, and the only leftovers there are last until Tuesday at most.
Understandable, but I'm not talking about leftovers, I prepare a larger portion to store it for "rainy" days.

That's really interesting.. being rubbish with languages I've always wondered what it's like to be properly bilingual.

I agree, I love having to pay attention to what people say.
Now if I can get better at actually USING all that info! :-)
SHOULD I GET THE MEN OF WAR BUNDLE!!?? SHOULD I GET IT!!!????

I imagine it could get a little disconcerting if you have a lot of noise in your head, and it starts coming out in different languages. -laughs-

SURE WHY NOT! MODERATION, LOGIC AND SANITY HAVE NO PLACE HERE! =)

Ok I understand. I personally have no problem to write in german on gog. I post in the german subforum quite regular.
But i started to use english more often which includes watching shows and movies in the original language rather than the dubbed one. With games it depends. Lastly more english than german and my biggest time sinks (CKII, EUIV and Skyrim) completely in english (to be fair, the german versions of CKII and EUIV are poor translations).

EndreWhiteMane: Had to look up Citadel paints, expensive little critters. ;)
This is the one I still have and used this afternoon.

I think it cost me somewhere around 20 bucks, a small fortune back then.
