Hi everyone, drinking coffee in the still, dark hours, and looking forward to my morning walk. It was blowing hard yesterday, rain on the way; big swells, no fishing boats to be seen, only the gulls for company. I like that kind of weather, the longer the heat stays away, the happier I am.

The sun was out later, but not too strong, enough to bring out the scent of orange blossom, jasmine, wisteria and lavender - bee heaven here at this time of the year.

Good points. In addition, they have given away some of those games fairly recently to anyone who sets up an account. (Peggle, Bewitched, Dragon Age Origins - and others like Theme Hospital, Syndicate etc), so throwing them into a bundle and feeling good about themselves is a little disingenuous.

The way you describe it, it all sounds really pleasant.
Around here, it's near-constant wind, clouds in the distances, sandstorms but no rain.

Charity with an ulterior motive...unsurprising, but no less contemptible for that disillusioned lack of surprise.

I'll cut the potentially heavier commentary off at the pass, seems like bad form to break all that out while you're having morning coffee.

Good morning, Crow, hope all is well with you. Just after I posted, Firefox crashed, and when I got back in again, trying to resurrect my many - I won't tell anyone how many! - tabs, GOG insisted I was logged in, showed me with 3 new games in my Account and one in my cart, all of which is blatantly untrue, and wouldn't let me post.
I had to logout again, then in again then out again (sounds like some kind of sadistic trick they were playing on me) and finally I'm here - empty cart and all. Not sure what that was about.

It is very beautiful here, I just don't like 6 months of unrelenting heat and sun, with never a cloud in the sky. And tourists like locusts everywhere - ugh. This time of the year is wonderful.

What made you end up where you are, if I may ask? It doesn't sound like you are very happy there. I lived somewhere similar in South Africa, years ago, and it was hell. No mountains, though, but everything else, lots of sand and wind, no rain.
They didn't even bother to bury people when they died, just put them out at night and in the morning they'd dried up and blown away. ;-)

As for Origins - bah, humbug. Pity - they do have some good games....

To its credit, it was still running after 600.

Not sure on that, either. Over the weekend I had about 16 hours where I could barely post anything. The forum wouldn't completely load, so it wouldn't let me post without refreshing numerous times.
Sincerely hoping they get Galaxy up and running soon, so focus can shift to stabilizing the site as a whole.

Despite the distance, 6 months of heat sounds very similar to this place. Summer lasts from May to October around here. It gets old.

aaaannnndd - I'm back. Too much rain and wind, even the gulls were huddled in the honeycomb sandstone cliffs. Think I'll make a big omelette with the fresh herbs I picked in the garden yesterday, thyme and oregano today. :-)

Laughing at your tourist remark - actually I'm kind of a tourist myself, as this is not my country, although I've lived here for some time. But it's the cheap flight, package tour-ists who are the problem - the arrive here from Northern Europe in their thousands in the summer.

So many, I'm surprised the continent doesn't tip. They only come for the sun and the cheap beer, and overdo both, with disastrous - and disgusting - results. :-(

I hear you about Origins, although I was sorely tempted when they had a C&C sale a while ago, more than 50% off the entire collection. I still have a lot of mine on CD's though, so I managed to restrain myself from hitting the Buy button.


As for GOG - they are just strange. I often see my online green light on when I come to log in, even after clearing cache and cookies. Right now I can barely type, it's like trying to walk in wet sand.
I think I'll try restarting my computer and let Windows do it's damn updates. That's probably the problem.

Concerning EA - I'm totally unwilling to pay their usual prices as I consider Origin as annoying as Uplay - but I couldn't resist DA 2 and consider $5 an okayish rent fee. Now I have a spare key for DA: Origins on steam - so if one of you is interested just let me know :D

Oh, just saw ME2 is also Steam - already have it, so just ask.

I would be a comparatively boring tourist. I hardly ever drink beer and I don't go out in the sun very often.
The locals wouldn't know what to make of the pasty near-albino who's sober and polite all the time.

I get tempted by Command and Conquer as well. Just wish it was a reputable company in control of it.
That seems to be a reoccurring problem. Every time I get the urge to rent the original Doom games, I have to remind myself of who controls them now and not do it.

GOG has a lot of problems right now. Thinking that the need for employees to relocate to their home city is causing them to have problems recruiting the personnel they need.
I don't think the service is crap, I think those who work for GOG have exceedingly full plates and not enough people to handle everything.

It might be your computer, it might be the forums. Hard to tell sometimes. Hopefully the problem will get resolved so it's not giving you grief.

Well, if it feels fair to you, then that's what matters ultimately. DA 2 might not be the greatest game of all time, but I didn't find it openly obnoxious like I do some titles. Still have it for my 360.
