Well what do you know, I just managed to get through a tough spot and make it further in the game. That's nice.

Anyways, off to bed.

It tends to be harder at the beginning when one or two hard shots can kill your people off. It evens out as you get stronger.

Have a good night, sleep well. =)

superstande: Sure, that's true. And interrupting is a much needed thing in AD&D games I think, when the dark forces start using nastier spells. Haven't got much experience with sorcerers, maybe worth a try...
avatar
CarrionCrow: They're useful. Less of a selection, you can't switch out their spells as they gain levels, but what they do have, they can cast more often.
I always turn them into massive damage dealers, load them up with every serious blaster spell I can along with basic protection like shield, mirror image, stoneskin.
The wizard covers the wider range of spells, fills gaps the sorcerer can't, it all evens out and you end up with a lot more spells before you have to rest.
Alright, thanks for the info. Now I gotta get a sorcerer to my next party :)
Hi everyone, drinking coffee in the still, dark hours, and looking forward to my morning walk. It was blowing hard yesterday, rain on the way; big swells, no fishing boats to be seen, only the gulls for company. I like that kind of weather, the longer the heat stays away, the happier I am.

The sun was out later, but not too strong, enough to bring out the scent of orange blossom, jasmine, wisteria and lavender - bee heaven here at this time of the year.

Coffee, anyone?

avatar
CarrionCrow: Along with that massive hurdle, there are annoying things to that bundle, like getting Dragon Age 1, but not the expansions, Dragon Age 2 but not its expansion, Mass Effect 2, but no expansions to that and no Mass Effect 1 or its expansions, Dead Space 2 but not Dead Space 1, the Plants versus Zombies garbage they put out rather than the first one, and of course them sitting on the Command and Conquer franchise, which would be an instant purchase from start to finish if it wasn't EA forcing people to use Origin to get it.
Ultimately, their "charity" looks like multiple fish hooks designed to get people to head to Origin and end up paying extra to get full versions of anything they might like.

But who knows...maybe I'm being too hard on them. It's not like EA gives zero shits about its audience, instead going down the path of nickel and diming their customer base to death...right?
Good points. In addition, they have given away some of those games fairly recently to anyone who sets up an account. (Peggle, Bewitched, Dragon Age Origins - and others like Theme Hospital, Syndicate etc), so throwing them into a bundle and feeling good about themselves is a little disingenuous.

Good morning. =)

The way you describe it, it all sounds really pleasant.
Around here, it's near-constant wind, clouds in the distances, sandstorms but no rain.

Charity with an ulterior motive...unsurprising, but no less contemptible for that disillusioned lack of surprise.

I'll cut the potentially heavier commentary off at the pass, seems like bad form to break all that out while you're having morning coffee.

How are you doing today?

Good morning, Crow, hope all is well with you. Just after I posted, Firefox crashed, and when I got back in again, trying to resurrect my many - I won't tell anyone how many! - tabs, GOG insisted I was logged in, showed me with 3 new games in my Account and one in my cart, all of which is blatantly untrue, and wouldn't let me post.
I had to logout again, then in again then out again (sounds like some kind of sadistic trick they were playing on me) and finally I'm here - empty cart and all. Not sure what that was about.

It is very beautiful here, I just don't like 6 months of unrelenting heat and sun, with never a cloud in the sky. And tourists like locusts everywhere - ugh. This time of the year is wonderful.

What made you end up where you are, if I may ask? It doesn't sound like you are very happy there. I lived somewhere similar in South Africa, years ago, and it was hell. No mountains, though, but everything else, lots of sand and wind, no rain.
They didn't even bother to bury people when they died, just put them out at night and in the morning they'd dried up and blown away. ;-)

As for Origins - bah, humbug. Pity - they do have some good games....

Editing to say - I see you've gone now, hope you sleep well. I may as well go myself and get ready to walk, I think the rain has stopped.

Hi to anyone who comes in later, have a great day.

Hi to anyone who comes in later, have a great day.
-laughs- I once tried to stress test Firefox by seeing how many tabs I could open at once before it crashed.
To its credit, it was still running after 600.

Not sure on that, either. Over the weekend I had about 16 hours where I could barely post anything. The forum wouldn't completely load, so it wouldn't let me post without refreshing numerous times.
Sincerely hoping they get Galaxy up and running soon, so focus can shift to stabilizing the site as a whole.

Despite the distance, 6 months of heat sounds very similar to this place. Summer lasts from May to October around here. It gets old.

Your commentary on tourists is amusing, since that's what I would be if I went to your country. -laughs-

I don't mind the question. Would say it ended up being someone else's luck. I just latched on a bit.
Complaints are sometimes frequent since the beauty of the desert tends to be lost on me, but I've been in far worse places overall.

I'll wait for them to come to their senses and put those games out here. If they don't, I'll just have to console myself with the hundreds of items I already have. ;)

The offline/online function seems to be misrepresenting me. When I'm awake, I almost always have a tab open on the thread.

aaaannnndd - I'm back. Too much rain and wind, even the gulls were huddled in the honeycomb sandstone cliffs. Think I'll make a big omelette with the fresh herbs I picked in the garden yesterday, thyme and oregano today. :-)

You have way surpassed me with your Firefox tabs, why am I not surprised? ;-)

Laughing at your tourist remark - actually I'm kind of a tourist myself, as this is not my country, although I've lived here for some time. But it's the cheap flight, package tour-ists who are the problem - the arrive here from Northern Europe in their thousands in the summer.

So many, I'm surprised the continent doesn't tip. They only come for the sun and the cheap beer, and overdo both, with disastrous - and disgusting - results. :-(

I hear you about Origins, although I was sorely tempted when they had a C&C sale a while ago, more than 50% off the entire collection. I still have a lot of mine on CD's though, so I managed to restrain myself from hitting the Buy button.

As for GOG - they are just strange. I often see my online green light on when I come to log in, even after clearing cache and cookies. Right now I can barely type, it's like trying to walk in wet sand.
I think I'll try restarting my computer and let Windows do it's damn updates. That's probably the problem.

Enjoy your day, Crow - and everyone else who is reading this. :-)
Good morning, everybody! Hope you have some real good coffee. I'm just brewing an excellent one.

Concerning EA - I'm totally unwilling to pay their usual prices as I consider Origin as annoying as Uplay - but I couldn't resist DA 2 and consider $5 an okayish rent fee. Now I have a spare key for DA: Origins on steam - so if one of you is interested just let me know :D

Oh, just saw ME2 is also Steam - already have it, so just ask.

Maybe you're not surprised because I might've displayed some ADD tendencies? -laughs-

I would be a comparatively boring tourist. I hardly ever drink beer and I don't go out in the sun very often.
The locals wouldn't know what to make of the pasty near-albino who's sober and polite all the time.

I get tempted by Command and Conquer as well. Just wish it was a reputable company in control of it.
That seems to be a reoccurring problem. Every time I get the urge to rent the original Doom games, I have to remind myself of who controls them now and not do it.

GOG has a lot of problems right now. Thinking that the need for employees to relocate to their home city is causing them to have problems recruiting the personnel they need.
I don't think the service is crap, I think those who work for GOG have exceedingly full plates and not enough people to handle everything.

It might be your computer, it might be the forums. Hard to tell sometimes. Hopefully the problem will get resolved so it's not giving you grief.

Will try my best. Hopefully you'll have a good day as well. =)

Good morning. =) Lower-tier quality coffee here, but I long ago learned to substitute quantity for quality.
If nothing else, I'll stop noticing by the time my teeth begin to chatter uncontrollably.

Well, if it feels fair to you, then that's what matters ultimately. DA 2 might not be the greatest game of all time, but I didn't find it openly obnoxious like I do some titles. Still have it for my 360.

That's a generous offer as well, much appreciated. Hopefully they'll end up in the hands of people who will enjoy the games. =)
