EndreWhiteMane: So, I bought Last Dream from the developers site.
The 'rental' was on sale but I wanted DRM free. I'm a little miffed that the version on their website isn't the latest but the Steam one is. It came with a Steam key so all is good but I wrote the developer anyway.

Anyway, in playing the game I found the dialogs far and above those in other games similar to this.
Most are useful hints, tips, clues, directions, quests, etc. After a short time I was getting attached to the characters, very odd for me.
They bill it as an ode to the FF games, no idea if it's true but it sure is a fun one.
It certainly puts Pier Solar and Skyborn to shame.
The picture reminds me a bit of Zelda. I think I need to download the demo and test this :D

LaPtiteBete: Good evening, everybody !!!
**Hugs and waves, and... any drink you like**
Good evening. =)

Combination of Pepsi and coffee here at the moment. Seems to be working somewhat.

How's your day been, aside from having to deal with garbage presentations and what-not?

adaliabooks: Thanks Crow, will keep that in mind :)

CarrionCrow: Not a problem. That always seems to be the most arcane mechanic that those games has, got the urge to blab about it for the sake of (hopefully) added clarity.
I appreciate the explanation too, always been hard to wrap my head around the whole THAC0 and AC thing,

Much more RPG'ish than Zelda I think.
The Strategy Guide (included) is 747 pages long!
Edit: This includes a full walkthrough.

I've only really dabbled in tabletop RPGs and most of what I know about mechanics comes from games, so any extra info is great :)

CarrionCrow: On the fly info dump for those interested -

When you play games like Baldur's Gate or Icewind 1, you will see a stat called THAC0.

Ixamyakxim: "Hi, my name is Ixamyakxim, and I love THAC0"
Welcome to the 'group'. :-)

Well, it's all covered in the manuals, but the manuals are also very large, with a lot of information, lots of stats and explanations, not to mention the enormous spell lists.
Makes it a little easier to get started than absorbing all of that before you begin.
avatar
adaliabooks: Yes indeed.
Thank you for the very generous offer, but I do actually have Planescape, but couldn't get into it because it's very text and story heavy and the lack of combat and stat stuff put me off (cause, that's what I love in RPGs), plus at the time I didn't have the time to get involved with it.
And I think I'll try Icewind and see if I like it before committing to any of the others.

But thank you very much for the kind thought :D +1
You sure you don't want any of the others? I've already been ninja-gifted as well and it would be nice to make somebody else happy too. (even if Endre has already kindly gifted you as well) :P

On another note, although I bought this bundle in a previous sale, I actually haven't gotten around to playing much of these games yet. I think I'll try Baldur's Gate in my summer holiday.

Maybe I'm weird, but that makes me move the game up on my purchase list.
Have to appreciate developers who are willing to go that far for the sake of the player being fully informed about the game.
Some companies don't even come close to doing that. (Looking at you with a middle finger headed straight for your eye socket, Dark Souls...)

Thought you'd like that. 747 page manual with a $10 game? And it seems very well written and proofed.

EndreWhiteMane: Hi Hyper! Nice puppy. ;)
A little better today I think, less frequent loo stops at least. :-)

That is a very significant bit of betterment! Hopefully the visits will get more and more infrequent, and you get some of your strength back soon. But at least your spirits seem higher. :-)

GhostwriterDoF: Aye, my eyes saw that Endre was doing better as well,
hope you are having a good week, too, and are taking good care of yourself.

[...]
Hello, GhostwriterDoF, glad to see hat you're doing well today.

Unfortunately, it seems that I'm coming down with something. Have been feeling extremely weak and tired for no good reason for the past two days; was hoping to be doing better today, but instead I now have also muscle ache as if someone was beating me up all night long, and my eyes are burning and feeling very heavy. It's that stupid phase when you're not properly sick (yet) but not well either.

GhostwriterDoF: [...]

When you are so all aglow with kindness, that you can cast your own shadow, I don't think you can hide at all... ;)
That's very true for Moon, and a good number of peeps in our community. :-)

Also you should get a gogwiki wishlist, you are missing out of all the ninja gifting :P
I've tried to convince him, but he's resistant. Perhaps if more of us keep pestering him, he will succumb. ;-)

It shows their commitment, to be sure. Good thing I bookmarked that page, thinking I'll be headed back there sooner rather than later. -laughs-

As soon as I get to the point that food settles properly I'll be fine. :-)
Sorry to hear that you're next in line. Hope it's over very quickly. :(
