LaPtiteBete: Of course I will mention it !!!
Come on, don't be so humble !! ;-p
;-)

But thank GOG too, that they made this "reclaim" thing happen. Pretty awesome.

toxicTom: Only a couple left. Though I inexplicitly lost had 2 points when I wasn't here for a few days.

But no worries :-)
avatar
ddickinson: Don't worry. I have you on my list for later in the week. If you and Moon are not owners of a new star by then, the I will instigate some German bashing and get you both beaten with some +1s. :-)
You don't get to be the instigator ALL the time! :-)

EndreWhiteMane: Opinions on Elminage Gothic?
Looks very intriguing. But I have a few huge RPGs in my backlog (including Wizardry 6-8) so I'll wait until there is the faint chance I will have time to play it.

It's getting slammed pretty hard for having a terrible interface and quite a few other things, kept it from being an insta-buy for me. :-(

AgentBirdnest: I couldn't agree more. I started learning history on my own after leaving school, because in my opinion, I was only taught biased patriotic "history". I must have alternative views.
I would be terrible at any discussion about history before 1850. My knowledge of American history mostly only spans from 1850-current.

Of course you still get a hug.
*Extra big American hug* ;-)
Yay! *Big American hug*

It's a good job I like peanut butter. :-)

As I said, if you ever wanted to have a chat about history, then my PM is always open. It doesn't have to be just about American or British history either, my head is full of historical knowledge from my student days. :-)

Here is a little random fact that is not a secret, but not everyone knows. America did not invent the Stealth Bomber, the Nazis did during the Second World War. The Americans just stole it and kept it for themselves after the war. Originally the Nazi's plan was to build a jet bomber that was capable of crossing the Atlantic, avoiding radar, and delivering the nuclear bomb they were developing. If I remember correctly, their target was going to be New York city. But obviously, it never happened (partly due to the brave efforts of the Norwegian resistance fighters who worked with the British to slow down the Nazi nuclear program by destroying vital instillations in Norway).

You are both very welcome. You and Moon are both wonderful and a real pleasure to get to know. The least I could do is get you some stars. :-)

*big return hug*

Thanks for the offer :-)

That is a really interesting fact! I had no idea :-O ... I bet many millions of Americans would be pissed to hear that. Especially since we've spent like 50 billion dollars on the damn things.

Stealing tech was one of the major functions of ALL countries intelligence services.
I don't doubt for a minute we stole what we could and said it was ours
That's war and politics.

Okay, I will take a back seat and leave it all to you.

The US did of course advance upon the technology and make it it's own, but it was originally Nazi technology. I remember watching a documentary on it a few years ago, they even built a replica of the WW2 prototype at the US stealth research centre (don't know what it was called, but the place you developer and test your stealth technology). It did indeed work as intended, although of course the original would not beat current radar and detection methods,, but it could those used at the time. Even some of the staff there were surprised to find out it was originally German.

Of course, I was not trying to imply anything otherwise.

Indeed.
I'm mostly surprised at just how old the tech is. I've always thought the tech is closer to 40-50 years old.
By the way, hi Endre :-)

ddickinson: [more interesting-ness]
This is what I love to hear; the stuff that you normally never learn about.
Thanks for the interesting fact of the day :-)

Morning agent, how's the headache? Gone I hope. ;)

I remember watching a thing about the US space program in the early days, and one of astronauts or engineers joked that the early Saturn rockets were basically just V3s with the swastika painted over ;)

(disclaimer - I may have the rocket and / or V series wrong, but you get the idea) I always loved the line though.
Well I had better call it a day. Off home for a lovely evening with my partner. I hope you all have a good evening/afternoon/morning!

*big hugs for everyone, especially the Americans today.*

Sorry I can not remember the name of the documentary, as it was very interesting. I do not think it was an English documentary, I think it was actually produced in America and shown on the Discovery Channel (or a similar channel) over here. But that was back before those "educational channels" started showing nothing but silly things and gimmick programs.

Moon mentioned before about me posting more history facts, maybe I should take her up on her offer. But I will stick to nice trivial things, nothing that could cause any hard feelings.

That is probably true. As part of Operation Paperclip the US did take in many Nazi scientists and engineers, including those who helped to develop the V rockets. I remember reading that they helped a great deal in developing early rocket systems for the US.

If one of you gets and and plays it, please give an opinion about it here. I was considering it, but the large party and the mentioning of the combat being turn-based kept me from buying it.
