moonshineshadow: Ah ok, I did not know that. Here they only have all the normal stuff which you can get in every other supermarket too, so no reason to go there for me and now that I am living in Switzerland I seldom see one, they are not that widespread there. At least in the part I live in ;-)
Yeah, over here most of the stuff they sell is knock offs of the big brand things and imported stuff. Knocks offs are generally rubbish, but the imported stuff can be nice.

Ginger is simply a no show. I've heard it being described as, "something they put in chinese food".
Yeah, spices probably weren't such a luxury in Spain. Odd that ginger is not used at all though... though thinking about it other than ginger bread and things like mince pies or Christmas pudding there's not much ginger used in British cooking... just in Chinese or Indian dishes.
