HypersomniacLive: And ready!

It's my own recipe of a rolled up two-crust pie filled with my special homemade pastry cream (made with vanilla-bourbon ice-cream, mascarpone cheese and plums). I shaped it into a half moon and baked it on baking paper, no tin. Best served cold with some icing sugar and a generous dose of cinnamon.

EndreWhiteMane: That's got yummy written all over it! :P
Master Chef on the TV and pie recipes in the forum.

I had dinner less than an hour ago but I'm hungry again. Hungry for PIE.

And I'm sitting next to a plate full of christmas confections, and it's all your FAULT!

Also, your half moon is a semi-circle or is it more of a crescent?

HypersomniacLive: You're all welcome to a piece or two - it turned out a pretty big half moon. ;-D
Sounds damned good. I can see the thread title now though: I got mooned by HypersomniacLive and I liked it!

I'm going to have to get dinner rolling in a couple hours. Doing something with couscous and chicken this evening, I think. Although I may decide to go with risotto instead. I'll have to poll the family and see how they want to go.
All I have is this big, crunchy, chocolately, addictingly good bag of Peanut M&M's.
Poor me. ;)
So how did I deal with my sudden sweet craving?

I put some coffee chocolate spread on some biscuits.

I'm watching a couple of kids gut and clean squids on TV.

Can you send a piece to Australia please??

I've just got a box of delicious chocolate covered biscuits which are making up for the lack of Hyper's delicious sounding pie.

One or the other should do the job. ;)
Luckily no sweet craving here (even if the pie sounds delicious). Too much sweet things over Christmas. I'll stick to chips or roasted pistachios :D

Biscuits and chocolate are all good.

Chocolate spread with bits of crushed roasted coffee beans on biscuits is even better

I'll top it with a piece of marzipan.

Speaking of which. What are your typical christmas sweets and confections where you live?

How many have marzipan related treats?

++++++++++++++++++++++++

On an unrelated note, I just looked up the competition's voting for the next community's choice.

Hatoful Boyfriend was one of the games.

We make short bread cookies, 'chocolate frogs' (a mixture of coconut, rolled oats, and chocolate, among other things), and ginger bread cookies. Also, my oldest daughter always insists on my wife's homemade apple pie.

I can't stand marzipan sweets. I don't mind it on cakes, but marzipan sweets are devil spawn.

We usually just have copious amounts of chocolate.

Edit: Oh, and we recently discovered Lebkuchen (delicious German gingerbread for those who don't know) which is one of the most morishly delicious things I've ever had.

More like a crescent, of course - I'm an artist. ;-)

Couscous all the way.

I'd be happy to, just PM your address. Too bad it won't arrive in time for New Year's Eve night though... unless Crow lends us one of his pigeons for a super fast delivery?

There are lots of marzipan figurines you can buy here, but since I don't like marzipane I never buy them. As for christmas sweets in my family we have nothing special normally we buy every year some chocolate with different flavors but that's it. For us the important time is actually before christmas the advent, where we bake tons of christmas cookies ;-)

Pies of all kinds are the traditional holiday treats. Pumpkin, Apple, Cherry, Peach and many others. Pumpkin and Apple are my faves. ;) 100s of kinds of cookies are a close second.
