CarrionCrow: Good morning. =) Can't complain here overall. Added another 10 games to the pile yesterday....-laughs-

Life was normal during the lead-in and day itself. Hopefully the obnoxious commercials will begin to go away, and it's always better to be able to go in a store that isn't blasting the same crap that's been played this time of year for decades.

As for video games? You've chosen the first, Ghostbusters is supposed to be crappy, Lords of Xulima is coming out here soon as you said, and Postal 2's ultimately a mediocre FPS with "wacky" elements included.
I have news for you, not counting today, I still have to suffer through 9 more days of the same overused songs playing everywhere.

Interesting analysis. I'm disappointed about Ghostbusters though, nostalgia can be so misleading.

This one big enough?

l0rdtr3k: Let's celebrate winter (summer here) by dancing and doing things you'll regret but your family will never let you forget XD
Isn't that just a typical normal Christmas dinner?

Stupid ass forum. Ate my frigging post. Let's try that again.

Deep Dungeons of Doom is worth a try. Got it from someone and have been enjoying it quite a bit.

Also, it's only 50 cents more expensive than Ghostbusters while being a good game.

Heh, the Dragonslayer. That should do the trick.

ddickinson: I'm thinking of trying to learn Japanese, no real reason why, it's just one that jumped out at me. As for the instruments, I'm torn between the piano and the violin, though I think it will be the piano.
avatar
adaliabooks: I would think Japanese would be quite hard... I'm apparently very good at pretending to play the violin... <_< >_>
Never tried it for real though.
Hard is an understatement, the grammar is so out there to make it look like an alien language. Someone just informed me recently that in japanese you conjugate adjectives.

It is also, rather poor at actually communicating stuff. It's so vague, has such crude verbal conjugation and depends so much upon context that it makes for great sitcom misunderstandings, but hell for when you want to be concise.

When people say, big swords, far too many people think Cloud and FF7.

Then I smack them on the head and tell them to read/watch Berserk, so that their balls will finally drop.

Hey now, come on....Cloud, FF7 and that big sword led the way for Square Soft to take the Final Fantasy series in a whole new direction, one that has totally....worked.....out for.....them.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sorry. Couldn't even type that with a straight face.

Also, thank you for reminding me. Have been meaning to watch Berserk for a while now.

Been slicing some cured sausages for lunch (not for me, still have that tummy-ache, for a visit).

The trick is to get them to be thin, it can be quite difficult. Cutting meat properly is an art form in itself.

Super-sharp knives help. Have one here called Fleshripper. It cuts everyone at the drop of a hat, but I love it since it'll pretty much go through a cinder block. -laughs-

adaliabooks: Good morning. =) Can't complain here, how's your day going?

Had to get up early to take the cat to the vet because we thought his eye was swollen again, but turned out to just be stuck closed with gunk, so he's fine.

Otherwise going fine, was going to try do something useful and productive... then I opened xkcd and that's not likely for at least an hour now...
Glad to hear that your kitty's not having health problems, at least. A swollen eye does not sound good at all....

FoxySage: Hmm.. i knew i forgot to tell something to my grandfather. Forgot to say the gog key i have him for Alpha Centauri was a bundle key, so he should just redeem Alpha Centauri.

Oh well, hope he'll appreciate the Settlers games he got on top of that game then. :)
A grandfather who plays 4X games...

That is one cool grandpa.

If you're going to watch rather than read, I'd recommend foregoing the anime series and watching the new movies.

The old series is good enough, but the movies cover the same material with far greater production values.

Also, they only take you as far as volume 14 or so of the manga. Which has 37 in total. That leaves you more than 20 voumes, chock-full of pure awesome, manly, demon-ass-kicking.

The last few volumes have been a bit weak though.

I appreciate the info. =) Figure I'll do the whole thing eventually. It's part of my backlog. -laughs-

Yeah, sharp knives definitely help, I find the Japanese style ones are best But cutting things thinly (meat particularly) is very difficult. Sausages are a tiny bit easier though.

We have one of these, bought second hand for £25, an absolute bargain. Doesn't slice everything brilliantly (turkey tends to just crumble so far when we've tried it) but it slices ham really thinly, and things like salami as well.

Well, swollen around his eye, but considering he's been having problems with his eyes for a while now we thought it was bad, but it turned out to just be stuck closed with his eye medication... so if we'd just washed it we'd have saved £30+ :/

Oh well, rather be safe than sorry.

Be afraid if you run turkey through that stands up to the slicer. If it does? For the love of the gods, don't eat it. ;)

Sounds like you're a very good caregiver for the fluffball. They're fortunate. =)

Yeah, I imagine any real turkey will never really slice properly on it, only reformed rubbish.

Well, I can't really take the credit for that... it's mostly my girlfriend. I'm more of a dog person myself... and this cat in particular has never liked me and barely tolerates me to even touch him most days.

Shit, that's just cats in general. -laughs-
Have a pack of them around and I serve as their feeder, their waterer, their doorman and their janitor.
When they want attention, I nearly break an ankle dodging them while they try to rub on my leg.
And when they don't feel like it? I might as well not exist. Just how they are.

Quite so. My own appreciation towards felines, only extends as far as their usefulness as musical instruments goes.
