Hard is an understatement, the grammar is so out there to make it look like an alien language. Someone just informed me recently that in japanese you conjugate adjectives.

It is also, rather poor at actually communicating stuff. It's so vague, has such crude verbal conjugation and depends so much upon context that it makes for great sitcom misunderstandings, but hell for when you want to be concise.

The trick is to get them to be thin, it can be quite difficult. Cutting meat properly is an art form in itself.

If you're going to watch rather than read, I'd recommend foregoing the anime series and watching the new movies.

The old series is good enough, but the movies cover the same material with far greater production values.

Also, they only take you as far as volume 14 or so of the manga. Which has 37 in total. That leaves you more than 20 voumes, chock-full of pure awesome, manly, demon-ass-kicking.

The last few volumes have been a bit weak though.

Yeah, sharp knives definitely help, I find the Japanese style ones are best But cutting things thinly (meat particularly) is very difficult. Sausages are a tiny bit easier though.

We have one of these, bought second hand for £25, an absolute bargain. Doesn't slice everything brilliantly (turkey tends to just crumble so far when we've tried it) but it slices ham really thinly, and things like salami as well.

Well, swollen around his eye, but considering he's been having problems with his eyes for a while now we thought it was bad, but it turned out to just be stuck closed with his eye medication... so if we'd just washed it we'd have saved £30+ :/

Yeah, I imagine any real turkey will never really slice properly on it, only reformed rubbish.

Well, I can't really take the credit for that... it's mostly my girlfriend. I'm more of a dog person myself... and this cat in particular has never liked me and barely tolerates me to even touch him most days.
