LaPtiteBete: What kind of tea would you like, DD ?...
What ??? ):-| holy cow... another German invasion ?! (lol)
(Have we got German peeps here on this thread, by the way ... ?)
avatar
ddickinson: I don't mind what kind of tea, just as long as it's warm. (I'm freezing in this wind :-)).

Mond ist aus Deutschland. (that should translate to Moon is from Germany, but probably not, Google translator is not always that accurate.). :-)

I think we have a lovely mixture of people from all over the work on this thread. Mostly from Europe and America, but also some from Australia and beyond.

avatar
moonshineshadow: Yep I still love to have these disks. My backlog is like this: 50% on gog, 45% on disks and 5% steam and bundle games :D And while the price of course is some reason for buying games I am not a fan of the steam client since it had already blocked me from playing my games when I had trouble with my internet connection, so I only buy a game which uses steam if I have no other choice and since my backlog is big that is even less reason to buy there. I think the only games added to my steam in the last year were Lego Lord of the Rings and Lego Hobbit :D
avatar
ddickinson: I can understand the appeal of Steam, especially with the cheap bundles. There are several games that I would love to play, but sadly they are DRM only. So I make do with the games I already have, which is good enough for me.
Sticking to DRM-free makes for a good line in the sand when it comes to something that's so frigging flooded that you could play for the rest of your life and still not play everything.

Have a grand total of 2 items on my rental wishlist, and they're both nostalgia based.
Can't help it, though. Always did enjoy Max Payne.
avatar
moonshineshadow: Yep I can understand that. I also prefer DRM free, but there are games where I make an exception. Games I can play with my mum. And since I already have the steam account for that reason I added the bundle games also :D But i am not buying bundles anymore so there are not many games getting added ;-)

And you are correct moon translates to "Mond" :D
I think if there were games that I could play with my mum, then I might be tempted to try steam, especially if it was just for casual playing when I visit my mum. But as I play by myself normally, I am happy waiting for DRM free games.

I like Deutschland getter than Germany. It sounds nicer to me. I often wonder why countries use another work for another country. I think it should just be Deutschland to everyone, just as it should be England to everyone. Is England called England in German, or do you use another name like some other countries do?

I like some of the features that Steam offers, but I want to own what I pay for and have full control over them, and also have a company like GOG that at least tries to offer a decent service. Not like Steam, who just give the middle finger when you try to complain, and if you complain too much they take your games off you, games you paid for.

Yeah, the social parts are useful, but the vast majority of it is crap.

Will be good when Galaxy's up and running so the social parts can at least be done through a company I actually want to support.

Okay, credit where credit's due, the cards are also useful sometimes. Lucked out and got one worth 6 dollars that I could give to someone who sells them off for more game money.

Let's get ready to hug!
I'm in need of hugs again, someone please hug me. I also completely lost all interest in PC gaming. Sorry but if something does not give me pleasure,I stop doing it. But I'm not giving up on the forum and the DRM-free Revolution! I'm still a believer in GOG and it's community.

Good afternoon. =)

No PC elitism here, if you enjoy games it doesn't matter what format you're playing them on. =)

I just hope it will be okay. GOG does not have the best reputation with making things work. Just look at all the simple things that don't work on the site. Galaxy is not for me, but hopefully people will love it.

*big hug*

I told you before that you don't need to be sorry about preferring console games. Games are games, it doesn't matter on what platform. I don't think there are any PC Master Race people in this thread, so don't worry about it. Just as long as we will still see you around, that's all that matters.
You forgot to hug me =(
Also,elitism hurts a gaming community a lot.

It is called England :-) And I agree I would not mind if countries were called with their real name and not some translation.

I think it'll work eventually. I'm just not thinking it's going to be out and in good shape any time soon.

What they're trying to do is pretty massive, so I'm figuring it's going to take a long time to complete. Ballpark estimate would be another year.

I don't really do hugs.

And yes, it does. People want to feel superior, like they're on the winning team, rather than enjoying that people share an overall hobby.

LaPtiteBete: (does it count as an invader, DD ?... ^^)
avatar
ddickinson: Of course it does, just becasue Moon is not taking part doesn't mean the rest of Germany is not invading. But don't worry. I told Moon that if we lose her to the German forum (or you to the French forum for that matter), I will launch a full scale invasion, destroying the sub-forums and bringing you both back to this thread, where you belong. :-)
Don't worry DD. ):-| My heart belongs to this place. It's my home... I once say "Hi" (or rather "Salut !") in the french sub-forums, but it's almost dead... and has definitely nothing in common with this one... and even less, with this awesome thread. ♥

Good afternoon/morning.

What's this? Herzlich willkommen bei gog.com ? Oh dear... Poles, welcoming Germans in?

This will only end in tears, or black and white movies.

Guten Tag, J0ekerr !!
Wie geht's ??
avatar
ddickinson: That's good, I know that Steam games are often very cheap, so I bet it's so easy to get a nice big backlog on there.
Steam games are often very cheap
very cheap
This, need I say more?

Also humble bundles steam keys.
