adaliabooks: Well, as stupid as it sounds, the only reason I'm still up really is I'm too lazy to go to bed...it's a long way up stairs... XD
But in the mean time I'm just pissing about on the internet doing nothing important (except hanging out here of course ;) )
avatar
CarrionCrow: Been there. Done that. -laughs-

I know what you mean. For me, pissing around usually means checking out some Let's Play, putting music on, looking at Netflix.
Nothing exciting, nothing terribly interesting, just stuff to do stuff.
avatar
tinyE: That's pretty much why I live in here.
avatar
CarrionCrow: I was looking at the Hearts of Iron 1 manual yesterday and I thought of you.

I think that if enough people here buy the Paradox games, we could have a support group in the thread so everyone can figure out how to play the frigging things. =)
With those games it's more a lack of patience I think.
*yawns* I'm sleepy now. I'll play some turns in Alpha Centauri and go to bed.
Hope it doesn't turn out like last time when I started a round and I stayed up all night playing the damn thing.

I'd say that would be a definite factor.

Like I said, I was reading the manual. 77 pages, and nearly all of it was wall-to-wall text explaining the different systems and mechanisms to gameplay.

Definitely not an instant gratification kind of game.

Of course I'm loving Escapists and that goes beyond patience. XD Hours and hours and hours spend just getting ready.
Hey Crow,do you like Weird Al?

That one does look interesting. I'm all for games that have different themes and objectives than the standard military-type shooter or fantasy RPG.

Right now, the one I've got that goes beyond the breaking point of patience would be Super Meat Boy.
That is, without a doubt, the hardest godsdamned game I have ever played.
I have never had a love/hate relationship with a game the way I do with that one.

Clearing a level that your brain initially tells you, "Nope. Not possible. No way, no how, not you, not today. Just shut it off and pack it on, because there is no way in hell you're going to beat that." is a fantastic feeling.

But dear gods, do you have to suffer to get there.

I began my manual-trudge with Victoria. Should I switch over to HOI for the therapy & support? :)

(I read somewhere on the forums that HOI is the toughest one to get into...)

I wouldn't be much help in that department right now, even if you did.

Haven't decided yet what to get, or if I should be saving my money for next month's big releases.
Mandatory Fun is one of his best albums.
Really listen to Word Crimes,Handy and Now That's What I Call Polka. Fantastic songs.

For the record, "IN 3D" is his best album, :D

They certainly haven't been nearly as popular as the Lucas or WB games (at least, it seems), but their take on the genre promises to be almost exactly what I'm looking for. I do love my strategy.

Sunday may be dedicated to one of them, but I also wouldn't mind clearing out some games that are short+nearly done. It's the old Crow dilemma. Work on clearing the crap, or actually enjoy myself? :)

EDIT: Also set an end-goal for This War of Mine to finally stop playing it, though I've got many many hours to reach that goal. All day Sunday might get that little project to 30% completion. :)

I seriously need to do a relisten of all his stuff. It's been far too long.

I love that there's still enough of an undercurrent of silliness that he could be on the top of the best seller list decades into his career.
Dare to be stupid is also great.

That doesn't surprise me, the initial learning curve is going to throw some people.

I know it's going to take me a while to actually learn so I can get into the fully enjoying myself phase.

-laughs- My advice? Don't be like me. Do something enjoyable. =)
