CarrionCrow: The sequel to Sin City.
The original was definitely cheesy at times, but it was a far better movie than the sequel.
Funnily enough, it seems that someone in charge knew that the sequel was shit, hence the aforementioned nudity. -laughs-
j0ekerr: And funnily enough, the movies mirror Miller's evolution as an author.
From cheesy but awesome, to horrible insane poorly drawn shit.
tinyE: I was kind of joking. I do live with them but that's because we own and operate this B&B together. It would never work any other way. :D
j0ekerr: See, you're already in the right mindset.
CarrionCrow: I've been in that exact same boat. You have my sympathies.
j0ekerr: I did have some trouble when relatives found my copy of 'In Nomine Satanis - Magna Veritas' (which is an awesome RPG by the way in spite of being french).
I ended telling them to stuff it and think very hard about wether they really believed a game book would indeed be the catalyst that'd realize their worst fears.
I don't think they slept calmly for months.
Good evening. =)
Yeah, the Sin City thing is just depressing to me since I had my very best theater experience watching the first movie.
The local theater had a projector problem, and everyone else present but me wasn't willing to wait for them to fix the problem.
They got their money back, but they were all idiots and good riddance, because I got to watch the movie with the entire theater to myself. =)
I used to have a relative who did the whole RPG's equal Satanism thing. Highly amusing these days since I have more in common belief-wise with neo-Satanists than I
ever did with their garbage of choice.
Besides that, I find additional amusement because the relative in question doesn't really have a mind to attempt condemnation with anymore. They spend their time not being able to remember their own children or grandchildren.
My response? Good. Fuck 'em. =)
Also, I like In Nomine quite a bit, the RPG that was based on In Nomine Satanis Magna Veritas.
I took a minute to really think on the nudity thing, and I'm really glad I'm not a massively hormonal teenager anymore.
Eva Green is quite attractive and all, but I prefer being able to recognize that no amount of breast exposure will change the fact that the movie sucks all kinds of ass. -laughs-
adaliabooks: Phew. Finally caught up!
You guys sure can talk some times... that must have been about 12 pages since I went to bad last night (teach me to go to bed early(ish) and not keep up to date with the thread).
Hello all :)
Despite growing up in a very Catholic country I have to say I was never accused of satanism for liking RPGs and stuff.. although due to living in the middle of nowhere I never really got into things like DnD, just Warhammer.
As for C & C, I don't think I played the earlier ones... I loved Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun, and played a bit of Generals but wasn't too impressed with that. Haven't played any of the newer ones. Red Alert 2 is one of my favourite games though, absolute classic :)
And I'm firmly in the romantic camp, left school and ran away to another country to be with my girlfriend just over 8 years ago and haven't looked back since :)
Good evening. =)
You're fortunate in that regard, it does get more than a little exasperating to see people babble so retardedly about such an inherently silly notion.
I'm not really surprised that you didn't have to deal with that, since I've never heard of Catholics getting up in arms about the whole thing. Every time I've heard of it, it was imbecilic fundamentalists from the U.S. making a big deal about it.
Thankfully, their insanity is slowly but surely being ground under by the passage of time. The blatancy of their stupidity is rather noticeable when it's put up against all the real problems in the world.
I played Red Alert 2 and enjoyed it but never finished it. I have done all the primary C&C games, though. (Even 4, gods help me.)
If romance has worked for you, that's a good thing. =)
Me? I'll keep on adding padding to my casket of selfishness. (I love that statement, on both a language and imagery level. I keep thinking of putting hard drives full of GOG games in a big pillow case to sleep on. -laughs-)
