tinyE: If you ever get the hankering there is fantastic installer for the original RA 1. Of course you need the disc and it doesn't help improve the movies but it makes the original campaign fantastic on newer systems.
avatar
ddickinson: I have all of the original games on one DVD, DRM free. :-)

It hall all of them up to C&C 3, even the fun FPS game, Renegade. I might just give RA 1 a replay soon, that was another great game, and the secret ant missions were fun. The DVD version I have has no real problem working on Windows 7 64-Bit. I can play all the games without issue.
Considering that 3 was the beginning of the aliens crap, which in turn led to the ultimate miserable disappointment of 4, you might as well say you've got the whole series already, make your own ending, and call it done. -laughs-

I do, that's why it doesn't bother me that I missed the newer games. Too many franchises are killing of the games and making them just horrible, and I am quite happy keeping my money and enjoying the games back when they were good.

The aliens were mentioned briefly in Tiberian Sun, the second C&C game, but not to the extent of the third game, and not in a way that implied that all of the stuff that had happened so far was due to some alien conspiracy.
I have just realised, that the surname Kant (famous german dude) has the same pronounciation, as the derogatory term for Vagina O_O
Hello fellow goggers, how are you all? Have you all praised Darkseid today?

I relented under the cheapness to the now gone astrological belligerence bundle. I can now rent all 12 of them for an unspecified period of time. Even though one or two are not even worth the bandwidth they will use.

What'd I miss?

EndreWhiteMane: Guess that makes me a childish, gentleman, softie nice guy.
That's a scary reputation. :-/
That can be easily remedied, just need to break out the shotgun.

tinyE: me too :D
of course I'm 39 years old which makes it a little more pathetic. :P
Viewpoint is everything, think that, they live with you, and you will feel better and not emasculated at all.

It is a sad but common state of affairs here, for sons and daughters to live with their parents until they have families of their own. And sometimes even beyond that. It is also normal for said parents to take away some of their offspring's salary.

l0rdtr3k: And that's not counting the people that thought I worshiped Satan because I play Magic and D&D.
I worship Cthulhu,thank you very much :D
Cthulhu is a false god, and doesn't give a shit about your worship. Darkseid is the one true god of evil.

DARKSEID IS!

I was kind of joking. I do live with them but that's because we own and operate this B&B together. It would never work any other way. :D
avatar
CarrionCrow: The sequel to Sin City.

The original was definitely cheesy at times, but it was a far better movie than the sequel.
Funnily enough, it seems that someone in charge knew that the sequel was shit, hence the aforementioned nudity. -laughs-
And funnily enough, the movies mirror Miller's evolution as an author.

From cheesy but awesome, to horrible insane poorly drawn shit.

CarrionCrow: I've been in that exact same boat. You have my sympathies.
I did have some trouble when relatives found my copy of 'In Nomine Satanis - Magna Veritas' (which is an awesome RPG by the way in spite of being french).

I ended telling them to stuff it and think very hard about wether they really believed a game book would indeed be the catalyst that'd realize their worst fears.

I don't think they slept calmly for months.

CarrionCrow: Also, it bears mentioning that gratuitous use of female nudity still isn't nearly enough to actually sit through the thing.
Either I'm some aberrant example of the male gender, or the movie's really that shit. -laughs-
Not at all, you've just become old and jaded about female nudity, lacking both the libido of a hormonal teenager and the scarcity that would make it valuable.

When I was a kid there was an uproar because a woman showed a nipple in the middle of a TV broadcast during her musical act (no one complained though, well except those that you all know of, but no one listened to them). And during recess, boys searched remote private corners where they could look at big brothers' "stolen" magazines while sharing them with their friends. Which gave them a higher status amongst them.

Nowadays any kid can stare at full frontal vaginal nudity 3 minutes after switching on the pc.

Phew. Finally caught up!

You guys sure can talk some times... that must have been about 12 pages since I went to bad last night (teach me to go to bed early(ish) and not keep up to date with the thread).

Hello all :)

Despite growing up in a very Catholic country I have to say I was never accused of satanism for liking RPGs and stuff.. although due to living in the middle of nowhere I never really got into things like DnD, just Warhammer.

As for C & C, I don't think I played the earlier ones... I loved Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun, and played a bit of Generals but wasn't too impressed with that. Haven't played any of the newer ones. Red Alert 2 is one of my favourite games though, absolute classic :)

And I'm firmly in the romantic camp, left school and ran away to another country to be with my girlfriend just over 8 years ago and haven't looked back since :)

Good evening. =)

Yeah, the Sin City thing is just depressing to me since I had my very best theater experience watching the first movie.
The local theater had a projector problem, and everyone else present but me wasn't willing to wait for them to fix the problem.
They got their money back, but they were all idiots and good riddance, because I got to watch the movie with the entire theater to myself. =)

I used to have a relative who did the whole RPG's equal Satanism thing. Highly amusing these days since I have more in common belief-wise with neo-Satanists than I ever did with their garbage of choice.

Besides that, I find additional amusement because the relative in question doesn't really have a mind to attempt condemnation with anymore. They spend their time not being able to remember their own children or grandchildren.

My response? Good. Fuck 'em. =)

Also, I like In Nomine quite a bit, the RPG that was based on In Nomine Satanis Magna Veritas.

I took a minute to really think on the nudity thing, and I'm really glad I'm not a massively hormonal teenager anymore.
Eva Green is quite attractive and all, but I prefer being able to recognize that no amount of breast exposure will change the fact that the movie sucks all kinds of ass. -laughs-

Good evening. =)

You're fortunate in that regard, it does get more than a little exasperating to see people babble so retardedly about such an inherently silly notion.

I'm not really surprised that you didn't have to deal with that, since I've never heard of Catholics getting up in arms about the whole thing. Every time I've heard of it, it was imbecilic fundamentalists from the U.S. making a big deal about it.

Thankfully, their insanity is slowly but surely being ground under by the passage of time. The blatancy of their stupidity is rather noticeable when it's put up against all the real problems in the world.

I played Red Alert 2 and enjoyed it but never finished it. I have done all the primary C&C games, though. (Even 4, gods help me.)

If romance has worked for you, that's a good thing. =)
Me? I'll keep on adding padding to my casket of selfishness. (I love that statement, on both a language and imagery level. I keep thinking of putting hard drives full of GOG games in a big pillow case to sleep on. -laughs-)

I suppose that real crazy shit is usually down to US fundamentalist religions, but the Catholics have crazy by the bucketful too. For example abortions are still illegal in Ireland. And although it's Christian rather than Catholic here in the UK all the shops close early on a Sunday, because for some reason life is just supposed to stop on a Sunday and we're all supposed to spend the day in church or something....

Thing is, I could probably have dealt with proper hard line believers and fundamentalists... what really annoyed me was that the people I went to school with were just Catholic by default, they had no real belief to speak of and just didn't have the courage to stand up and be different, they just followed blindly along with whatever they were told they should do and believe.
It just reached 1 degree ABOVE zero (F), I'm off to the beach!

More ridiculous crap, and the people who try to impose it on others. -shakes head-

I know what you mean. Have dealt with a lot of people like that. They were brought up in it, and to them it's like a child reciting the U.S. pledge of allegiance. It doesn't mean anything, it's just something you do quickly to get it out of the way because someone's bitching at you to do so.
