Except for last year. I finished more than bought up until Secret santa happened and I got gifted really generously :D
So how big do you think is your backlog and how long to finish it?

Backlog-wise...I'd say there's probably 6 to 7 hundred in total, between console, PC and rentals. I probably have enough stuff right now to keep occupied for at least 3 years.
Slowly making sense of duplicates, rentals, stuff like that so it can all be more organized. I think the rentals will be gone long before the GOG catalog since so many of the games I've picked up in bundles are smaller and more shallow.

And yeah with all these different sources it can be a bit of work to keep track of everything, that is why I made a list with all games and where they are from :D

For me, the primary annoyance is clearing up duplicates from Humble or sales for items I didn't think would end up here.
Have ended up buying something along with renting it more than once. Always irritating.
Right now, I've got my GOG folder, which has all the games I own here in it (reminding me constantly that I need an external hard drive), my DRM-free Humble stuff (which is slowly being deleted as I clear items since I've yet to run across a game in it that's valuable enough to retain), and my rentals (which I'm checking to see which ones have cards to them, stuff like that, since I promised someone I'd pass them the cards as I get them).
Fun stuff. -laughs-

So I am curious do you rent games from steam directly sometimes or is it just bundle stuff that you have there?

Recently, I rented a few games from Square-Enix that I've wanted to clear. Less than 20 dollars for 7 items, and I know I'll be getting at least 5 hours of game time per dollar.
The ratio of game time to money spent is one of the main ways I determine whether or not to rent something.
Your way to determine renting games is really interesting. I only have the games from previous bundles there and sometimes I rent one or two I really want to play and can't get without steam (like for example the newer Lego games to play with my mum).

Right. When something comes here that's been a rental, I buy it here again so I can actually own it, then ditch the rental.
I don't get nearly as analytical when it comes to GOG games, but that's the joy of actual ownership. I'm not going to drop 60 dollars on something that can be taken from me at a moment's notice.
I've done that ONCE. Borderlands 2.
Did the whole paying more thing, all the DLC nonsense, all the crap, and now?
I don't buy games from that company anymore.

Thankfully Deepsilver listened to all the complaints from German fans and released the third one drm free (it does a disk check but I do not consider that drm like some "fanatics") in retail versions :D

Right. Like I said, I did the triple A garbage experience thing one time, and even then I don't think I paid full price for the base game.
That's one thing I wish would change. I hate that I can't go to a local shop and grab a PC game without it being nothing more than a key to download it off the net.
I like discs. I like interesting game boxes. I like actual physical manuals. And all those things are pretty much treated like extras now.

That is the reason I was so happy about Risen 3. It was like ages ago. Just going into a shop and buying a game which came on a disk and not just a download key. And yes it was just the normal leave disk in and play. Worked like a charm.

Even with that, I kinda doubt people are burning their games onto discs after converting installers into disk images.
With the pre-set installers, who wants the additional hassle? Just download a bunch of games, then squeeze them onto discs as many as you can fit at a time until you can get a hard drive to pack everything in at once.
