EndreWhiteMane: I certainly hope it will be very short term and she will better soon. The sticks will keep her in better condition that the walker so it's probably for the best.
Sill no idea what happens to her, is it simply exhaustion?
They have put it down to body trauma and exhaustion from being ill. Her condition started several years ago, almost exactly the same time my grandmother became very ill. My grandmother later died from her horrible ordeal, but thankfully my mother pulled through. But ever since she has been in and out of hospital and usually very close to not leaving again. They never seem to be able to find the cause, which is so infuriation. The first illness caused a number of secondary things, and needed some operations etc. So they usually just put it all down to the body been weakened by it all and never really getting a chance to heal, due to her been ill so often. She has had many different scans, but so far little has been found.
HypersomniacLive: I know exactly what you mean. I got one for my mum when she no longer could safely walk on her own - she didn't use it a single time, didn't even try; just gave it a contemptuous look and turned her head away. It occupied space for a couple of months before I took it back.
It must be a thing with mothers, becasue I know a few people with similar stories. But then I guess it's how many of us deal with things. We prefer to turn a blind eye and pretend these things are not happening. But as much as it annoys me, I love how strong willed my mum is, and while she was still here, my grandmother as well. My grandmother suffered so much, and it was horrible for me to care for her and see it take it's toll on her, but I can't imagine what it was like for her. But she never let it get to her. I have always loved seeing that about people who are ill. Like when I volunteer at the childrens hospice, as tragic as it is, it's so great seeing them refuse to let their illness get the better of them. Some are too young to really understand, but a few know what is happening. I have always found something encouraging in the real strength of the human spirit.
