ddickinson: What can I say, we farm girls are made of some tough stuff. It takes more than a serious visit to the hospital to make us behave. :-)

I think if her troubles with walking were more permanent, then I would try to push the situation, but the doctors think it will just be a few months, and she should be showing slow signs of improvement along the way.
I certainly hope it will be very short term and she will better soon. The sticks will keep her in better condition that the walker so it's probably for the best.
Sill no idea what happens to her, is it simply exhaustion?

EndreWhiteMane: Some of the most popular soups here are the 'cream of' variety. Tomato, mushroom, chicken, broccoli, etc. No chewing required. :-)
I really prefer thick soups that are closer to 'stew' than soup. Beards and liquids you eat with a spoon can be problematic. :-)
Well, this one still requires a spoon - it's not soup if you can eat it with a fork.
As for the beards and liquids, look at the bright side - you'll never need a serviette or an apron! ;-P

moonshineshadow: Thanks! I'll try that soon, I love soups and always like to add new ones to my recipe collection.
It's easy to add new ones - improvise! Helps with not getting bored, even with your favourite dishes! ;-D

Thank you. Regarding the walker: as I said to Endre, there is zero chance she would use it. She does not even like to admit she needs the walking sticks, let alone a walker. I think she would kill any of us if we brought one of them home for her to use. Not literally kill of course, but then she is a dab hand with a butchers knife. :-)
I know exactly what you mean. I got one for my mum when she no longer could safely walk on her own - she didn't use it a single time, didn't even try; just gave it a contemptuous look and turned her head away. It occupied space for a couple of months before I took it back.

Nah I never get bored with my favourite dishes. But yeah are right, improvising is also a lot of fun.

They have put it down to body trauma and exhaustion from being ill. Her condition started several years ago, almost exactly the same time my grandmother became very ill. My grandmother later died from her horrible ordeal, but thankfully my mother pulled through. But ever since she has been in and out of hospital and usually very close to not leaving again. They never seem to be able to find the cause, which is so infuriation. The first illness caused a number of secondary things, and needed some operations etc. So they usually just put it all down to the body been weakened by it all and never really getting a chance to heal, due to her been ill so often. She has had many different scans, but so far little has been found.

It must be a thing with mothers, becasue I know a few people with similar stories. But then I guess it's how many of us deal with things. We prefer to turn a blind eye and pretend these things are not happening. But as much as it annoys me, I love how strong willed my mum is, and while she was still here, my grandmother as well. My grandmother suffered so much, and it was horrible for me to care for her and see it take it's toll on her, but I can't imagine what it was like for her. But she never let it get to her. I have always loved seeing that about people who are ill. Like when I volunteer at the childrens hospice, as tragic as it is, it's so great seeing them refuse to let their illness get the better of them. Some are too young to really understand, but a few know what is happening. I have always found something encouraging in the real strength of the human spirit.

Actually they picked a promo in which nothing interests me in the least. Which is good since I have no game money. :-)
Sanctuary I may buy after I've tried the freeware version. Seems the developer has done some rather un-nice things to his users, have to check that out too. I guess the graphics truly qualify as 'retro'. :-)

I was thinking about Brutal Legend, it looks kinda fun. But I am not really sure, so I'll give it a few days to think about it.
Regarding Sanctuary. It might be a nice game but I am not really into ASCII-art so I'll pass.

Nothing for me in the promo. So my money is safe in my piggy bank. :-)

What kind of un-nice things did the developer do to the users?

The game itself does not appeal to me. I am not big on these 'retro graphics" games. There are exceptions of course (like Blackwell, etc), but may now feel like they are using that as an excuse for horrible graphics. Plus the high prices often do not reflect the product, IMO.

I seem to recall someone speaking highly of Brutal Legend, but I can't remember who. As for the ASCII-art, I agree. I don't mind low resolution graphics now and then (I would prefer developers actually put some effort in and make reasonable graphics, to be honest), but that is not my kind of thing, especially for the price.

Just some noise about keys and features that didn't make it to the free version. Stuff like that, I haven't looked very deep into it yet. Maybe all just BS.

Maybe, but I wouldn't put it past developers these days. Many of them seem to treat customers like crap, especially if they were kick starter games.

Is the weather warming up for you now, or are you still freezing your beard off? :-)

Up to a tropical -15C. :/

And I'm off to the doctors for a visit, not sure why, probably just a check up.
I'll see everybody later.

I hope everything goes okay at the doctors, and make sure you wrap up warm in that cold weather.

*goodbye hug*

Nothing in the promo interests me, though Brutal Legend does have some unique gameplay and good music, it just doesn’t hit the right notes to entice me into wanting to play it.

The ASCII art in Sanctuary is a bit too nostalgic for me, and graphics-wise, leaves a lot to be desired. It does remind me of the old BBS text driven RPGs of old, which I never had interest in as well.

At least this will give me a chance to save up, replenishing my game budget for any new releases, or other titles in the GoG catalog I’ve been holding off on getting, few as they are.

And good morning, afternoon and evening to everyone. :)

I guess Sanctuary only appeals to a certain group of players. The graphics are a big turn off for me. I am not too concerned with graphics, but the whole ASCII look does not really appeal to me.

Good morning! Are you having a good day so far?

‘tis a fine day indeed, and I did manage to get up before the dawn.
