CarrionCrow: Yes, at the beginning of 4, Leon is working for the president and trying to find the president's daughter.
Capcom's storytelling is...not good. They make the story bigger and bigger, but not better.

I don't think it's racist to have people from different countries/cultures/whatever to shoot in the face. I play games and I hate losing. As such, I don't give a shit what they look like, they're just enemies.
But, as you said, plenty of people are looking for reasons to get offended.
That is true. Although Capcom does make some good games, like the Onimusha games, although they got worse with each new incarnation.

I am the same, when it comes to shooting zombies in the face I am an equal opportunity mass murder. :-)

j0ekerr: And the full complete version of Alien Isolation is discounted 75%.

WHAT DO I DO?!!!
Um...look at Bundle of Holding, see the two big Torg bundles, see that it looks like a really cool game and get even more conflicted? >=)

FearfulSymmetry: I'm not usually bothered by my housemates, but given that one of them invited ten people and they have now burst into loud, drunken singing while I'm trying to work on my thesis, I'm not exactly pleased. -__-

Sorry to hear that. I hope they won't keep it up for too long so that you can get some work done.

How thoughtful of them...

CarrionCrow: Would say you're right on that one. People will keep going with what they think they know, rather than shooting for accuracy.

4 is the one that began the shift towards heavier action. But, from everything I've heard along with my own playing so far, it still has a balance between action and suspense/survival horror-type stuff.

5 and 6 are really the ones that took any kind of balance and threw it out the window. The further along the series has gone, the more they've turned into standard action games, to the point of zombies having guns in 6.

5 is the one set in Africa, and yes, they had people complaining because they had Africans running around in headdresses like stereotypical tribesmen, throwing spears at the character.

4 is set in Spain, but the general locations look like a bleak craphole in a forest in eastern Europe.
I can attest to that last bit. Japanese do not strive nor care for authenticity or research.
Capcom follows the Dan Brown school of storytelling, describe exotic locations based on uncofirmed rumours, and when in doubt! Just make shit up. No one will notice anyway, at least no one important.

The creepy eastern european forest is actually not that innacurate. There are parts of northern Spain (particularly Galicia) which look just like that.

No, what rustles my jimmies are the mexican accents.

It rustles my jimmies.

So I was looking around in youtube and I noticed that fat youtube geimz-kritik Jim Sterling had a video on an Aliens Colonial marines mod, which changes the game utter nauseating fermented shite to merely bad and even manages to make some parts of it enjoyable (or so he claims).
Then he mentioned that there's a big sale on Aliens paraphernalia because it's Alien anniversary day.

And the full complete version of Alien Isolation is discounted 75%.

Buy it, aside from being about a third too long the game is amazing.

I've watched some Let's Plays where the person knew quite a bit about the Resident Evil series. Hearing them throw out all the plot holes, all the crap that makes no sense in the series, did a good job of demonstrating what a mess Capcom's made out of it all. The story aspect of Resident Evil's been screwed up ever since the very first one.

That's it. I'm not looking at the infected peasants in 4 and thinking I shouldn't be killing so many Spanish people. It's more along the lines of how to wipe them out before they kill me.

I hope they'll take it to a club or pub or something soon. It's king's night here, the night before the king's birthday, traditionally set aside for die-hard partying. So I do get that they're celebrating, I just wish they'd do it elsewhere. :P

*huge hug* How are you? Are you liking the sale?

Haha, definitely. This is my youngest housemate, and I think she sometimes forgets there are other people living in this house as well ... :P

Trick them out of the house, throw the beer out the window.

Okay, that's cool. I appreciate getting the info from someone who'd actually know.
Guess that's my preconceived notion of the place. I think of Spain as somehow livelier than that.

What, Spanish people don't all say "ay ay ay" while wearing flamboyant quasi-cowboy looking outfits? -laughs-

Eh, that'll pass. If you'd looked later, liked the game, but missed it entirely, you'd be kicking yourself in the ass over the opportunity you never got a chance to capitalize on.

Yeah, that sounds like a certainty with the whole "let's bring a party in the house while people have important work to do" idea.

Of course the game was racist, it was made by Japanese who are delightfully racist.
Their way of stating their racial superiority over you in every possible way, is by being unfalteringly polite and courteous.

That tends to ruin games for me. A big part of gaming for me is the story and lore, so when that gets ruined it spoils the whole game series for me. Granted not everyone is like that, but I have always been story focused for the most part, although a good story is not a requirement for me to enjoy a game, if I find one with a story I liked and they ruin it then that is me done with the series.

I think some people just take games too serious. Maybe if it was more of a serious and political game, but it is a game about zombies, I am pretty sure it is supposed to be some silly fun.

That is a nice excuse to get drunk. Hopefully they will take it elsewhere soon so you can get some work done. Shall we contact your King and ask him to change his birthday until after you have done your work? :-)
*big encouraging hug*

I am doing good, thank you. The sale is nice, a little slow, but still better than the last Insomnia sale I think. Nothing for me though so far, probably only one game that is a slight consideration, but that is about it. How about you, have you seen anything you like?

I was reading that in a Mexican accent after reading your comment about the game using Mexican instead of Spanish. Granted it was a very stereotypical Mexican accent, you were even wearing the hat. :-)

I have not played the game, so I don't know how racist it was. But given the drama people like to make about the smallest things I would not be surprised if it was something minor. But then again I would not be surprised if it was quite racist.

Picture it this way, you're watching some movie set in California, then a valley girl opens her mouth and says:
"Och ye wee scunner, ye be pissin yer gob at me mates. Git oot ma face 'afore I brek yers. Crivens!"

That's understandable. Inept world building, bad storytelling, is very noticeable. I've already seen a story section of 4 that I'm going to think about the rest of the game due to its sheer stupidity.
Not playing 4 because of its rich narrative. Got it because it's regarded as one of the best of the entire series and I hadn't ever played it.

Some people have sticks up their ass, to put it mildly. They endlessly seek out things to squawk about.
