j0ekerr: That, and the bullfighting costume and the huge sombrero I keep in my closet.
I only wear them where no one can see me.

In another order of news, I despise energy drinks, but I had one this afternoon because I felt like I was going to leave a me-faced dent on the table otherwise.
And as I was feeding the coin slot I realized the damn thing costs more than the Cthulhu games... separately.

Which I meant to ask about, what are they like?
Awesome. At some point you'll have to take a picture of yourself wearing the full outfit, then pass it around. =)

Yeah, energy drinks are both expensive, and disgusting. They do a great job of making the person question why they're spending so much money on something that foul.

Haven't played them yet, but they're both supposed to be at least decent point and click adventure games.
Have heard that Prisoner of Ice isn't quite as good as Shadow of the Comet, but that's about it for specifics.
Random observation: The new Bloodlines game has this in the title "Vampire®". Now I am pretty sure they do not own the rights to the word Vampire, so why are they trying to claim they have the rights to the word? The TM is fine, but there is no way they legally own the rights to "Vampire" given how old the term is.

To be fair I did make fun of it in the release thread. :p
It is really strange though.
I'm fairly sure trying to copyright vampire would go over about as well as trying to copyright Candy or Let's Play.

ddickinson: Most likely, especially as there is probably not a big enough demand for the game to justify a full remake.

That is very true. It is a mixture of lack of originality and creativity, and them being scared to take risks and using the safe options to keep the investors happy. At least with indie games we do still see some nice and original ideas, although indies are getting more and more like AAA developers all the time.

Square Enix has been doing that for ages now with all the spin offs and things. I think they are making big changes (such as removing the turn based combat, new characters, altering the story, etc.), and it is going to be an episodic game as apparently making a game on that scale is not possible today as a while games. I don't think they are too worried, it will sell no matter what, and gamers are more than willing to support publishers and developers who make rubbish, just look at how broken virtually all AAA games are, and each time the customers go back when the next game is out. As long as gamers have more money than brain cells the developers have no reason to make an effort.

That is a good attitude. I still have the older ones on the PSOne and the GameCube, so at least I can enjoy them still without having to give Capcom more money for the same old stuff.
Yeah, the FF 7 thing will make money, whether it deserves to once you strip away all the nostalgia garbage from it or not.
I think they've got a list of stuff they figure they can change, stuff they can change somewhat, and stuff they can't touch no matter what. They don't have the courage to make any sort of huge sweeping changes, even if they thought it'd make the story and game better overall.
The episodic thing is a bad joke, and the customers will ultimately be the punch line as they undoubtedly make Square Enix think it's a good thing to keep doing by sitting around like imbeciles waiting for them to churn out games in chunks.

The "AAA" quality thing is funny to me. Makes me think of renting Danganronpa. It's mostly a visual novel game, and it was still screwed up at launch. Save game corruption, serious bugs that needed to be fixed.
I won't buy a "triple-A" game from any company immediately, except for maybe one. But it's an incredibly rare thing, given how badly so many big games are made now.
Why in the world some people still equate the AAA title to some kind of quality or standards, I don't know. It tends to be more an indicator of the opposite these days.

I did not really follow the release thread, so I did not see that. But you can hence forth have all the credit for being first to notice it. :-)

Well the ® symbol is usually a registered trademark, not a copyright. But even so, it seems strange they can register a trademark for such a generic word, especially as they did not invent the word. But then Activision is American, and you can do some silly things in the US courts if you have the money. I would imagine it would be hard for them to enforce that trademark due to the generic internationally recognised term. I guess it is just another publisher sticking silly symbols on things that they know they can't really make claims to.

I think they're trying to lay claim to the extended title, that being Vampire The Masquerade, the roleplaying games that Bloodlines is based on.
They were just lazy about it, so they put it at the end of Vampire instead of presenting the whole title.

I agree, but I also think that gamers are so dumb these days and put up with so much crap that developers can do what they like and gamers will still praise them and throw money at them, especially console gamers who are usually younger and have mummy and daddy money and not their own. I liked the excuse that the game was too grand a scale to make as one game. So despite being nearly 20 years old (over 20 if you count when development started), modern game developers can't even match the game in terms of scale.

It goes back to what I said about gamers now just accepting everything and not voting with their wallets. The sad thing is that customers could fix the game industry in no time if they just stopped throwing money at them and demanded some quality in their purchases. But that won't happen anytime soon, and we will keep getting the same old stuff. I guess until the market falls again there will be no big improvement for gaming as long as this incompetent and cash grab attitude is prevalent with developers and publishers.

But they also have the TM symbol at the end as well. I think many "AAA" publishers like to stuck symbols on their titles to make them sound more fancy. :-)

Well I'm off now, gonna try to sleep a bit. Dunno how well that'll go though.

See y'all tomorrow (today).
I think I had best be calling it a night as well. It has been lovely chatting to you all, as always. Sorry for leaving mid-conversation, but I will be sure to answer in the morning, hopefully after getting at least a few hours sleep.

*goodnight hugs and sleepy waves*
I think i'll be third one leaving - having a nasty headache for the last hours which is why i wasn't able to keep up with the thread. Wish you all a good night and see you later *big good night hugs and waves*

It'll have to reach a breaking point. Unfortunately, no one knows how long it'll take for that to happen.

-laughs- That wouldn't surprise me a bit...

Have a good night, sleep well. =)

Can you guys see me coming or what?
Good night all 3 of you. Sleep well. :-)

If I ever write a game it's going to say; Full 64 bit graphics not nostalgic of a damn thing. ;)

I may or may not be lurking outside of your window making signals that sound cleverly like giraffe noises.
