I have EA Games Red Alert installed. It occasionally crashes on my new computer. Is there a way to fix it?

You have probably better chances going on the AHQ boards. I recall there is a user there that deals with the troubles that you can encounter in the old C&C and RA games. There were some good tutorials of how to make those old titles work on the modern OS>

Red Alert can have issues on newer computers. I use the RA1 installer, it fixes all the issues with the game on modern systems: https://funkyfr3sh.cnc-comm.com/

You can either use the original CDs or just let the installer download the game for free (as EA released is as freeware) and yes its DRM free as well.

The game is a bit wonky and will have issues until some source port or something is releases. C&C Tiberian Dawn is the same. The fan patch helps though.

sorry to 'necro' this topic but i tried everything and nothing works in my case ..........
some guys gave info to patch the .exe files, use a custom registry setting , everything possible, i tried it, nothing works the problem is in my case only CPU

thats all the 'graphics' 'problem
' can be fixed the main problem in my case is the GAMMD.exe this file needs to be optimised, it is this file that scrws my CPU :D so if i can have it fixed i can run YR on my w7 64 bits :D

currently at 60 degrees ( celcius) but it will rise to 70 and above , cant risk that ofcourse :D
so forget all the soalled patches that work cause they dont work in my case , tried them all, nothing works
it's the GAMEMD.exe that is going beserk on the CPU, if i can fix that i can the game :D

Anyway no one seems to know about it cause no one mentions the GAMEMD.exe using 25% all the time, 90% of all 'fixes' were only tested on 8 and 10, well i dont have 8 nor 10 so those tips are worthless too me, i need the GAMEMD.exe fixed, problem is the file is probably compressed too much code to try to bytpatch it ...

thanks for the reply , yes i know the GPU killer and many limiters, and they might do the job, but the main exe from RA YR2 is using too much and i dont think the GAMEMD.exe wants to be slowed down....

Anyway thanks again for the reply, withing a few months i might ( just maybe might) have a new pc with windozer 10
andit will have at least 2 extra fans and if possible a cpu cooler other then the coin that is called a cpu cooler
so i hope 2, 3 or maybe four case fans in total might reduce the heat, which still leaves the question if reducing the heat vin total will also mean the GPU isnt abused.... normally one would think a hot cpu might damage, but the strain on the cpu will stay i guess? or is the strain causing the heat ? its complicated...
