This place is pulsating with mystery, leading your troubled mind down treacherous paths, in this spellbinding tale crafted by the creators of Dreamfall Chapters.

Tarhiel: Still have to play Dreamfall Chapters, but I was looking a long time for Draugen.
Insta wishilsted, looking forward for a release :)
avatar
MarkoH01: Looks nice but it is by RedThread and given the fact how they treated German customers and people who just wanted to play their previous game in a different language as second class customers by adding additional (even though promised) languages months after release I really don't know if I should support them this time as well.
avatar
Tarhiel: Aren´t you little bit too harsh judging them like this? I mean it´s quite common that other language mutations, except English, are released later on. And if they released it here, then they fulfilled their word.

I would understand your frustration, if they would do the Daedalic thing - releasing a game here without German voice/subtitle files and NOT adding them months/years later, even though German customers asked for it ad nauseam.
No, I don't think I am. I would agree to your point if they had not continued to advertize the game as a game supporting multiple languages while this wasn't the case mnost of the time. To be honest I am not even sure if THIS game will support German from release. It is advertized as such but so was Dreamfall Chapters.
while i really like dreamfall chapters. i hate the unity engine. i won't support a 3d game that uses unity. 2d unity, not a problem. 3d doesn't work. yooka laylee used it badly, as did dreamfall and every other 3d game that has slipped my mind
POLITICS? IN MY VIDEO GAMES?
If I wanted politics in my video games I'd move to Venezuela. Check-mate, libtards owned. Left-wing neo-Marxists SJW feminists destroyed.

...And other dumb shit that I've found within only 17 posts! We truly live in a society.

lubwak: Come on, really? After Dreamfall: Chapters I know I do not want to support the company. Awful plot built around trying to influence my world view (clearly included in such a way, like with the idealist Marxist friend plot). If they decided it is ok to treat me like an uneducated fool, I think it is ok, if I skip their productions too. It is a shame really, because the game had a great potential, and graphically it is very pleasant (with the exception of caricture-like characters they decided, for some reason, to feature in the game).
I have not played Dreamfall Chapters yet but heard that some controversies were present around launch. Something to do with religion, if I remember correctly. It's not the point of the thread but I'd be curious if you could elaborate as to why you think of the game the way you do.

As for the game, Draugen, itself, I'm always glad to see new releases. Won't be buying it at launch since I still have to finish the othersbut the visual and setting are already intriguing me.

Another off topic note, to all black metalhead, here's a band a friend of mine used to sing in : Draugen
Visuals look amazing and red thread is making it? I am interested.

gamesfreak64: Yup, very lifelike graphics, that smiling face looked like a HQ video.... BUT and this is a major but, its 3d again ٩(×̯×)۶
its a good thing games like wadjete ye and similar exist, and some artifex mundi games that have been added, cause
since 2016 i haven been able to get any good old games, the ones that arrived were few, the majority was either in 2 or 4 colors ( made my eyes hurt) or vga or svga but fpp, 3d, action, platform so basically it was sad... (+_+)

The art used to show on the tab does NOT ( yes in caps ) not relate to the ingame, i hoped it would be a nice point and click cause thats what the art made me think of
avatar
xKeiro: Just throwing this out there because I absolutely adore it's style (it has the most charming art I ever enountered in a game), and sounds like something you might enjoy (at least visually): Foxtail
It's currently in development so there's only just one chapter to play, but you might want to keep an eye on it.
Thanks for the reply , i bought the foxtail at release because it looked like a Kyrandia inspired adventure.

Just bought 4 DLC for PanzerCorps i expected the DLC to be large its only 6MB per DLC thats rather small
how do they fit in the videos ? i watched the game on youtube and they had intro videos, so i wonder how those animations fit in 6 mb :D

edit: made a typo life like had a space but needs to be typed/written without the space : lifelike ( was typing too fast , hence the typo)

Reading the game's name, I immediately thought of this:
https://fairytalez.com/the-fisherman-and-the-draug/

Wishlisted, but I really would like to know a little bit more about the gameplay.
The trailer wasn't really enlightening in that regard.

Thats the problem , usually they only show a minimum of video footage , sometimes thee are ( walkthrough)videos available if the game is release elswhere first , i always wait to see more videos, 1 to 5 minute videos are no good to give a right impression of a game.

Anyway, just bought the Baldurs 2 enhanced edition soundtrack , its only 2.99 now , music sounds very good, i heard it already on youtube, manytimes people posts dozens of sound tracks , usually at good quality.....
but i want the original mp3files and FLAC :D
thats why i bought it now on sale.
Hey Red Thread Games,

I'll look into getting this just as soon as my Kickstart Backer Rewards for Dreamfall Chapters arrives.

Or the sun explodes, whichever comes first.

Waiting months for a localization for a fully voice-acted game, especially by a relatively small indie developer that didn't plan to have those localization from the get-go, is not really that long at all. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm don't remember them ever promising that the localizations would be immediately available at launch.

I find your claims of being treated as "second class customers" rather silly considering both me and the developers themselves don't even have the game in our own language yet, because they prioritized all of you guys over the actually-promised-from-the-beginning Norwegian version.

What exactly do you want them to be doing? Leave the game on a shelf and the developers, writers, programmers and artists sitting twiddling their thumbs (or worse, fired) while waiting for the planning, contracting, translating, dubbing and integration of every-single planned localization to be done, potentially driving the company into bankruptcy in the meanwhile? Maybe that sounds reasonable to you, but I'd rather offer both you and the English-speakers the courtesy of being able to have your versions available when they are done.

I said it above. If they don't support the languages from the get go they should not advertize the game as such - and they did. It's simply false advertizing to get people buy the game and they kept those features on the store page even after I told them about it. In some countries this would even be illegal - at least it would give everybody the possibility to refund the game.

Again, not having those is not my problem. My problem is that they advertized the game differently. Also it's not true that they weren't planning those languages. They were part of the Kickstarter.

Ah, I misunderstood your problem. Isn't that more GoG's fault than RedThread's then? I thought GoG created the store-fronts, not the developers? I might also be a bit more forgiving with something like this, since the way it was released meant that for a good while you were buying knowing that you would only be given an incomplete game, with the promise of getting the full game eventually. Still, there should be a way to make it clear what is already implemented and what is not.

avatar
MarkoH01: Also it's not true that they weren't planning those languages. They were part of the Kickstarter.
Note that I said "from the get-go". French and German translations were added as a stretch-goal to the Kickstarter 18 days before it closed, and achieved only 3 days before it closed. They weren't planned from the beginning, but added later as potential bonuses because people were requesting them. A Kickstarter project like this doesn't usually start from point blank once it's goal is reached, usually (or at-least ideally) most of the development planning and a lot of ground work is already done before that.

No, GOG is in the clear in this case. Afair they also clearly stated when only certain parts already had additional languages available. I told the devs about the Steam store page and this is handled by the devs themselves (I know that for a fact because I know some other devs that are planning to release their kickstarted game on Steam soon and already created their Steam page. Sorry - probably should have mentioned it.

1) To be honest, I did not know that since I was part of the "slacker backer" back then.
2) I still think that the released game should contain everything people were backing for. "Stretch goal" is meaning that they got more than aimed for so that this goal was also possible. In such case it's nothing more or less (at least that's my opinion) than the base game. It's a funded and therefore at release expected feature.

I might also add that I did not say "People don't buy this game." It was just that I was a BIG fan of the devs and when I heard they would continue TLJ I was thrilled. But then I was really disappointed how the whole localisation thing has been handled. As far as I know their publisher (EuroVideo in Germany if I am not mistaken) had to handle it and they really neglected their responsibilities. Whenever I asked when German will arrive answers were vague at best, my advice to change the gamepage were ignored and in the forums people were hating me for suggesting to release the next episode when it is finished completely so that we all would be happy at the same time. So the way everything went was so disappointing for me that I left the forums and I also wasn't sure if I should trust the devs anymore. The end result imo still was an amazing game (even though they should not have changed episodes in the end but that's a different story).

Long story short: they make good games I really like with great characters and high quality work, I adored them before the kickstarter but this nearly fan-boyish thing got a big dent because of my experience during the release dates for the episodes. If things would have went a bit smoother the only thing I would have posted here is "instabought" but that's the reason why I am not sure if I'll buy on release - still pretty sure I will buy in the end.
