Dillerkind: I don't know this specific game but I believe with many Japanese games of that sort it's not the sexual content per se that's the problem. It's the (sexualization of) more or less underage-looking characters. I may be wrong of course, that's just the impression I get. If my memory doesn't play tricks on me, I've seen games released on Nintendo consoles that were NOT available in Germany supposedly due to loli-looking characters (I doubt that there's actual sexual content on Nintendo)
That just shows how they don't understand a certain ARTSTYLE. The characters might look underage but they aren't. Please tell me one underage girl that is already working ... like I said. There is no sense in it just stupid regulations from some prude people who think that everyone and everything will destroy the children. Poo parents - unable to protect theit offspring from ... yes, I still don't know from what kids need to be protected when it comes to anime games. Even a hentai would not crush a child's soul. I simply don't beliebe in banning and censoring and I also don't believe in those so called dangers - never did and never will. And that was my final word on the matter.

MarkoH01: Yes, it is absolutely ridiculous but I am so thankful that GOG tries to save my german 51 year old soul from something that's completely natural and most of all completely harmless.
Magical girl Earth-defenders fighting a horrible (and let me guess... tentacled) alien invasion force... is considered completely natural these days, eh? :P I'm joking of course. I normally wouldn't point it out, but the amount of serious posts that I initially mistake for jokes is on the rise on these forums.

I'm sorry, but that's a terrible, terrible excuse. It's a lame technicality on which to justify something intensly creepy.

Perhaps, but to us anime connoisseurs it's something we're used to because it's sort of a national oddity in Japan. Being "kawaii" and dressing up/looking as a teenager is something older women casually do as well. I'm not saying I don't find it odd (or what you'd call "creepy", I guess), but that doesn't make it less of a cultural reality.

TZODnmr2k5: plus if the atrocious voice work from the preview video is any indication, damn, it's bad!
What's up with that narrator VA in the trailer? His performance is indeed abysmal. Was he one of the devs who is not a professional VA and who was just playing a VA for the trailer only?

Are the other VAs in the game as bad at acting as that narrator VA in the trailer is?

I understand. Well, sort of. Not really, I don't really understand anything about anime, kawaii, and frankly I don't want to. But I get that it is as you say. I don't think that really changes anything. For one thing, there's quite a bit of difference between "characters looking underage" and people of obvoiusly legal age dressing up.

Anyway, I'm not trying to play moral police. Fiction, fantasy, porn - all of that is not reality. Finding sexy in that context something that might be... let's say questionable in reality is not a crime, nor should it be. I'm just saying that "they look underage but the text says they are totally not!" sounds like a pretty weak and obvious excuse.

It's not really something I think of major importance here, the characters in this game didn't even really strike me as underage as much as just terrible generic anime models. What does strike me as horrendous is the voice acting and writing. I'm not even sure, is it supposed to be a parody? With anime I find it impossible to tell.

It's painted characters, no real human got hurt in the making, imagine them whatever age you want to.
And yeah you're playing the moral police in basically any Anime game release thread.

I agree about the voice acting but that is basically every english anima dub.
As for the writing, japanese story telling is way different than ours.

Watch some live action Japanese movies.
Edit:Not sure how the none got into there.

You seem to be mistaking my sense of aesthetic with ethics ;)

No thanks, I prefer to stay away from Japanese stuff, live action or otherwise.

I always play the version with the original Japanese VA and this one should be no exception. Odd that they even have an English narrator, that's not normal. Always play with the Japanese voices when it comes to VN's.

I don't mean to be rude, but if you don't like and obviously don't get anime or Japanese content, then why are you even complaining about it on this board? Just wait until GOG releases something non-anime or Japanese in the next few days and let the rest of us enjoy this. Thanks.

Ah, so this thread counts as "basically any Anime game release thread"... ok :)

For the same reason I say "wow, a great release, thanks GOG" when they release something I think is a great release.

still, it is a difficult subject. How can you, as a society, rule out jew cookies, F1 racing girls but allow anime to presume its course unchecked? you can't, in my opinion
