Maybe this is just complaining but after the GOG save game email, it's the first time I even realized that there is a cap. I can understand that GOG needs to limit capacity, but some games use a lot more space for save games than others.

I would rather see 200 MB added to the quota for every game you buy, but it can be used collectively for any game. So that way, if I own 100 games, that's 20 GB of storage space that can be used. Heck, they could probably cut that to 100 MB per game at that point. Give the user 200 MB up front for the first game and each successive one 100 MB.

I don't think I ever ran into this issue with Steam.

That wouldn't fly as it would be easy to game the system by simply buying the cheapest $0.69 games on sale during big sales events, just so each game you own gives you another 200MB of storage. In fact, it might actually cause the total storage that someone is using to go up in size. For example, I own something like 850 games, so 850 x 200MB = 170GB. So I'd be able to have up to 170GB of savegames for Cyberpunk 2077 if I wanted to if they pooled 200MB per game and let games use up to that amount total.

Simple, cap upper limits, HTWingNut already suggested it.The problem is to find the perfect numbers based on operational data and forecast it to the future to avoid all the discomfort of communicating and implement new numbers often. Their current 200MB number as many said, seem lazy and baseless with multiple reasons given.How's possible CDPR own games break the 200MB limit? It drives to ask, Why 200MB per game? And here we're. There might be many solutions, but if the numbers are wrong, those aren't solutions.

GOG could do it like Steam and put different limits/game. For instance, Skyrim/Witcher 3 have 1 GB limit, while other smaller games have even less than GOG's maximum (100 MBs).

As I've already harped, GOG could also do with some lossless compression containers.

Addendum: But maybe this whole Galaxy thing was just a money pit and a mistake.

That has an easy fix.

Instead of GOG determining a customer's cloud save storage space based on the number of games they own on GOG (like the OP is suggesting), GOG should instead determine any particular customer's cloud save storage space by cumulative amount of dollars spent on GOG.

That would be fair for everyone. And those who have spent a lot should be receiving a lot more than 200 MB of storage space per game.

Maybe the amount of cloud storage could be linked to a game's pre-sale price? That way you wouldn't have less storage just because you bought the games on sale as per the example you gave. As a modifier, each game's average save game file size should probably be taken into consideration too. GOG could list the amount of storage each game comes with on the store page. Although I imagine that that would be quite labour intensive to do for every game.
Ye Olde game (with small save game file sizes) = not much storage provided
Ye Modern you-beaut-whiz-bang game (with large save game file sizes) = more storage provided

Because GOG is first and foremost a business. Cloud saving costs money because there is no cloud, it's just somebody else's computer. Someone has to maintain bandwidth, someone has to pay for servers and maintenance. Those who do more to support it deserve more of its use, because they are better customers. Not better people.

Better would be to charge for the cloud save service,so that you can buy tiers. 50MB per game for free. 200MB/game for $5.00 a month. 400MB/game for $8.00/month.

Resonable pricing that would definitely pay for the serversAND reward those who actually coontreibute to GOGs success.
