QC: We once got a live chipmunk.
avatar
XYCat: Was he a dramatic chipmunk?
No, but a rather spry and unharmed chipmunk. Resulted in a 3 minute panic in the house as the chipmunk tried to get away, the cat tried to catch it again and us trying to get the chipmunk out and stop the cat.

gbaz69: Should I be mean and wake my cat up, like he did for me? he literally looked at me just before falling asleep...
A cat's ability to annoy you is far greater than your ability to annoy it.

Cats are dicks.

trentonlf: He/she was just expressing their love for you. Just wait until you start finding presents left in your bed ;-)

Exoanthrope: My pregnant cat decided to give birth on my bed...

... at 5 in the morning...

... while I was sleeping in it.
I guess she wanted to give you lots of presents :-)

I was actually quite honoured that she trusted and loved me enough to do that, but it was still gross. <3

They are but a good dose of punishment has an amazing effect. First my cat limited being an asshole to when I'm not at home, by now he even behaves when I'm asleep. He actually even listens to the words "no", "get down", "get out" and "don't". He sometimes complains a bit before complying but in the end it usually works - unless he's REALLY determined (like trying to reach a bug). But then I can always pick him up and have a serious talk with him.

VABlitz: Had a cat that would catch flies for us. If she heard or saw one, she would stop whatever she was doing and not stop hunting it until it was in her mouth. She would then spit it out, rip the wings off, and play with it for a few minutes before killing it. Then walk around proud as can be.
Mine just eats them in the most viscious manner, wants them in his stomach ASAP. Except ladybugs. For some reason he seems to like them, never harms them. Only sits down nearby and watches them. One time it actually seemed as if he was trying to hide one from me, like he was afraid I'd remove it if I saw it. But he didn't hurt it, put his paw right next to it the moment I entered the room and then watched me.

Cats are crazy mind-controller animals.
A pair of meows and purrs and you're mesmerized for good.
Sorry dude, you are doomed XD

^yep this is my Ginger too when it comes to bugs. She can suck down a mosquito eater in a second flat. I do not even have time to get up to try to save it. (I am one to try to take the bugs outside before they become a snack.)

Yeah, same here. :D

I do with the crickets or grasshoppers, but flies, mice. and other insects...that's what they are there for. Let them do their job.

Ginger is inside only so thankfully no experiences with mice. Although she has alerted me to a garden snake in the kitchen sink before and 2 birds (different times) that somehow got in and stuck behind the fireplace. Sadly for her. She got locked in the bathroom until I was able to able to get the birds outside, I also had to get my Dad to remove the pipe to get the snake and take it outside.

They still do like to make an appearance indoors. I rented a house and didn't have a washer and dryer, and the field mice used to sneak into the house through the exhaust pipe. No cat at the time to assist me with the problem, but a dryer cured it.

That's one weird sequence of words.

But yeah, I make exceptions for some insects too. We had grain moths a while ago and in fact I was encouraging my cat to tear them apart and disappointed by his performance.

Jekadu: Are you absolutely sure pets are your thing? This is gonna sound horribly judgemental, but when your animals start hiding from you out of fear, that's bordering on animal abuse. Cats are not dogs - what works for dogs might only confuse and frighten the cat, and vice versa.
With them hiding because they don't want to get thrown out, I wouldn't really qualify that as abuse. If they whine the moment they see me, yeah that's probably abuse.

I always try to give them warnings and they know it's coming; And it's not like I'm kicking them. Although that does bring up a really bad set of lines I could use while using the phones in korea since everything is tapped...

A moth got into the house last night. My cat actually loved that thing. I never saw my cat so active, but I don't think she ever caught it. It was humorous to watch when my cat saw the moth go into the corner near my coat rack and the moth somehow evaded my cats keen eyes and was flying back towards me. My cat is staring in the corner, starts chirping looking for it, so being the nice owner I am I call her and point it out for her. Cats are humorous to watch when they are on the prowl.

Reminds me of being in North Carolina years ago... On base housing, nice...

Anyways, a hanging bed for the cat set up by the window, and workers outside raking and weeding and using leaf blowers, and a leaf blows into the corner of the window. The cat naturally HAS to try and attack it through the glass, and you know now matter how much she fights for it she won't get the leaf or get rid of it... Funnier when it was rattling because the leaf blower was vibrating it (but it didn't want to leave the corner) making her even more ornery and intent on getting it than before...

Fun...
