I've gone ahead and removed the game from my wishlist. Sloppy game design (a permanent missable) in what I consider to be a secondary genre for my (me primary being turn-based RPGs) is enough to remove the game from my wishlist.

If you don't like platformers, you won't like the game. As a platformer, I found it to be ok. The puzzle time mechanic made it a bit more interesting. The 2 hour ride to the star is just a douche move on Blow's part.

While I'm glad I got to play the game to see what all the fuss was about, I'm more glad I didn't pay more than around 75c in an Indie Bundle. Good soundtrack though.

I actually do like platformers; I just don't like them as much as turn-based RPGs.

Also, I don't want to reward sloppy game design.

Aren't you the same person who said that they wouldn't buy a game, even a DRM-free copy, if it was available with DRM on any website?

I don't feel like fighting with you. I've participated in enough derailments as it is thanks to your insanity.

So I just finished the game with 3 stars only. The ending was... weird.

Now off to collect the remaining ones. I hope I get something better then. I'll probably have to google a bit to find out what on earth is this all about anyway.

Although I love puzzle platformers, this was not my cup of tea. Some clever puzzles, but some of them felt slightly unfair.

I also enjoy non-chronological twisted stories, but this one felt like it was put together from some teenager's "deep thoughts" blog. As I said, I'd probably google about it a bit after I finish the real ending, in case I missed some real clever allegory that gives this whole thing some sense.

You won't like it. This was the first big indie darling, that back in 2008 showed what could be done with games outside of a studio system. How it could be a little more thought provoking, and gave us this idea of authorial intent in our games. That a lone developer could deliver us his vision, untainted by focus groups and corporate mandates. It was a very culturally significant game and it should be recognized for that.

But the game is not that great.

It was great for its time when it was something new, God knows I loved it, but if I played it now having experienced better puzzle platformers, and intellectually minded games not so superficial in its themes, I'm certain I wouldn't have the same opinion of it I had back then. Maybe I wouldn't even like it, who knows.

So don't expect your opinion to be swayed, stars or no stars. Gaming has gotten better since then, and what Braid offers just isn't as impressive as it used to be. Just look at The Witness. I haven't played it yet, but from what I hear it seems to be fairly similar to Braid in its design, if not its mechanics, and while it was praised it was quickly forgotten by most. That seems to be the same reaction you had here.

As for the stars ending, I'd say just look it up on youtube, don't force yourself to replay the entire game for it if you didn't like it very much. If you go ahead regardless, understanding it shouldn't be a problem, if I recall correctly they add another paragraph to the ending section that practically beats you over the head with it.
