Truth007: At what point was it connecting to unknown sites?
KSP and Crysis for certain. Others too I think, but can't be sure. Once they are blocked, they are silently blocked from then on. The list of blocked processes is long and the process names are not very descriptive. I could unblock everything then try all my games again, but... Nah.

Just try it for yourself.
You can add my name to the list for 2021.
2 things I wanna say

1. I honestly hate Gaming's over dependence on the internet and online connectivity.

Can't play your games without first logging into your account in a online service.

Its dumb when its for even older games.

2. You can't be a Pro-DRM-Free stance while also offering your game to your DRM competitor.

I've always found it strange CDProjeckt RED sells their Witcher games on Steam (and ironically more people bought Witcher 3 on Steam then on GOG as far as I know) and yet Steam doesn't offer their games like Half Life on GOG.

dtgreene: DRM is not something I can ethically support, so once a site encourages and/or provides DRM, at that point I can no longer ethically support such a site.

Time4Tea: +1 to this. To all this stuff about: "well, as long as they clearly mark which games are DRMed and which are not, it's ok right?" .... NO. The reason I (and possibly others) were shopping at GOG in the first place is because I view DRM as an unethical practice, and I am not willing to support a game store that engages in or supports unethical practices. It's exactly the same with the Devotion issue and these calls of: "well, surely it makes sense that GOG don't want to lose the Chinese market?". No, the economics are irrelevant. GOG's actions around Devotion were unethical and I for one am not going to continue to support them if they are going to act unethically.

It's a similar situation to a grocery store that started out selling only vegetarian products. Then, a few years down the line, they decide to allow a handful of products that contain meat. "But it's only a small handful of meat products, surely that is ok isn't it?". No, most likely not to the many customers who were patronizing that store because it was 100% vegetarian. They would be perfectly justified in taking their business elsewhere.

I do not care about economics, that is not what this is about. It is about ethics and I don't believe that ethics should be for sale.
While we seem to mostly agree I think only drm G.O.G or other drm-free based game platforms can/should be allowed is for online multiplayer gameswhen starting multiplayer because of servers and you know programs to prevent cheating are drm based. But otherwise no DRM at all is my view

I said it before and I will say it again:
when you ignore account requirement from Steam * then there's no such thing as "enforced DRM" on Steam.
There's plenty of games there that are "DRM free after downloading".

Also, offering a game "DRM free after downloading" is certainly better than putting an actual DRM in it.

* Which (account) is ALSO required for DOWNLOADING on GOG (you don't get "no login purchases of installers" on GOG like some dev itch pages and some other places offer)

Since when is Valve obligated to release their games on some other platform just because someone using Valve's platform for releasing their game also has self owned platform?

Also, usually overlooked fact, Valve had DRM override switch in almost all of their games since basically always.
Just fyi if you didn't already know.

And no, this is not "defending Steam".
I, unlike many others, see both what Valve did right and wrong.
I am merely stating facts.
*I* am just not "blinded with hatred".

A. You can't be a Pro-DRM-Free stance while also offering your game to your DRM competitor.

B. I've always found it strange CDProjeckt RED sells their Witcher games on Steam and yet Steam doesn't offer their games like Half Life on GOG.
To (A): Of course you can be pro DRM-freedom and still offer your product on a DRM supporting platform.
At the end of the day, the paying customers will decide, if they think of DRM-freedom as important as you do.

We (that's general "we", not we as in "the two of us") already had this conversation here on GOG a few years ago - and at that time, some people claimed, CDPR would simply have to sell their games exclusively on GOG, then the customers would follow.

I don't think that's true.
Want "evidence"? Simply look at how many GOG users claim to never play games that are (or even just have been in the past) EPIC or Steam (or Origin, UPlay, PS, XBox, Switch) exclusives.

That "boycott mentality" works both ways.
And in case you don't believe that to be true for customers of other stores, well...then you can't believe it to be true for GOG customers, either.

To (B): What's strange about that?
CDPR offers their games on Steam, because that's where the vast majority of gamers is, in other words: that's where the most money is.

CDPR is a profit oriented business after all, not a non-profit welfare organization.

And for the same reason, Valve isn't offering their games on GOG.
OP, please can you take me off the boycott list.

I have made a purchase since my last post here and cannot continue boycotting with honesty.

Thanks.
I thought I'd keep a record of GOG games I would definitely have bought, were it not for my boycott.

Haven't done a proper count, but I know i'm well over $200 worth of purchases down at this point.

Edit: Ok, simply going by the current sales, and not accounting for impulse buys or a few games that I would have paid full launch price for... I have refrained from spending $435 on GOG.

Doesn't seem to faze GOG in the slightest. No improvement in sight.

You could buy shares in CDPR with that money instead and demand a seat at the board meeting. :P

Most boycotters seem in it for the long haul, so I think they expected it to take a long time.

Indeed. Most of the issues here, like the forum, download options, changelogs, update parity, missing content, have been around for years without even so much as an acknowledgement by GOG, so they are hardly going to bother acting. The only thing that gets even the remotest look is galaxy.

As for me, my wish list of lost sales is at 533, most of which I would have brought at some point. So a fair amount of sales lost and no plans to invest any more here at the moment.

If you really boycott it. You wouldn't take free games like hellpoint either. In addition to the multi request galaxy. So drm according to your standards. So I don't understand why you took it.
You're just doing a half-boycott ^^.

Because there is nothing to improve, they know your feedback is overrated.
GOG continues to offer DRM, just because you have to get a T-shirt when you log in to Galaxy doesn't mean it's DRM, it's more like DLC

In the GOG community, you are marginalized, and GOG knows it, the numbers and their growing popularity prove it, as well as their interactions with their community everywhere else

They still know how to analyze a situation (contrary to what it seems, some posts seen since the beginning of this topic), it's not because you repeat something that it becomes true
When you bring them a real problem, they will try to solve it, make up for it or bring answers
Here, they don't do it, simply because you get stuck in your nonsense ideas, based on an element that you voluntarily adapted to your sauce, so the best answer remains silence
