Oh yeah, Starcraft was pretty great, sorry. I didn't play S2 though because at that point my distaste for Blizzard was quite highly developed.
Is there actually a way to play Warcraft 2 on new PCs? I haven't figured out a way to do it. I have all the discs and such...

Well what sort of PC are you running because Crosmando told me that the Battle.net Edtion CDs works right out of the box for Windows 7.

monkeydelarge: This is great news unless Warcraft 4 ends up being a MOBA or something similar.
They already have Heroes of the Storm that already have Warcraft characters so no need to make another MOBA :P

They have Heroes of the Storm incase you have forgotten.

Would be fantastic. I always liked playing the single-player campaigns and I devoted by far most of my time to create custom maps and campaigns. There was this huge community at the time that created so many fantastic maps for Battle.net as well as offline play, it was the backbone of the game, IMHO. I don't think it worked like that for Starcraft 2, because the setting and availability of units was so limited. It never felt right. If they can revive the awesome world editor of WC3, better, find a way to make WC3 maps compatible, they could have an amazing game.

To be honest, story-wise Warcraft 3 was never all that impressive. StarCraft 2 had amazing campaigns though with lots of creative map styles and branching and lore in between.
When there is a will, there is a way.

Blizzard obviousbly makes decisions based on numbers.

What I've gathered, many (including me) wants WarCraft 4. What should we fo now?

We should let Blizzard see there still is a foothold for original WarCraft. How?

You guessed it.

Magic word: Crowd funding. That's the only way Blizzard will see there's a request for an actual WarCraft 4.

Petition? Maybe. Help to crowd fund a game from a company that has hundreds of millions (if not billions) of dollars when good games are being made by small studios with a fraction of the resources? No fucking way.

MOBA is HotS. WC stays as RTS.

If that gets me WC4, so be it.

On a serious note, I was merely referring to the obvious fact that there is a market for WarCraft 4 RTS, as shown with that ominous crofd funding. Not that Blizzard ever actually would need it.

Should it ever go to that seriously, I'm the first to throw €50 for a copy when its ready. And I think I'm not the only one.

As it always should have. But well, Blizzard needs to stop making these add-ons for the abomination known as Wow. Lets face it StarCraft 2 already showed us there is a market for RTS with a multiplayer.

One more thing, as Columbo would say: petition gets you nowhere. Cash gets you somewhere. You make a petition - Blizzard shrugs it off. You make a crowdfunding attept to illustrate there is a market and gather some dough - I think they will act on it.

They have money, they have customers, they have other games that make them even more money. On top of all that, the story's been split between the old RTS series and the MMO for years now.

I get your point, and under normal circumstances, I'd agree. But with companies that already have insane amounts of money plus a constant flow of funds on top of that (Blizzard and Valve come to mind), they really don't have to put in extra effort beyond what they're already doing.

DosBox should work, because it's a game for DOS.

Just like Atari, 5 times removed, will consider respecting the brand they bought.
