Hello everyone!

I'll be getting some b-day cash in a couple weeks and I wanted to get some Wii U recommendations, whether it's big ticket titles or hidden gems. I don't have the console yet if it makes a difference.
So far I would recommend the following to most people:
-Bayonetta 2 (the first game is also on the Wii U)
-Super Mario 3D World
-Yoshi's Woolly World
-Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Other games I've played (and would recommend as well):
-Splatoon (The single player content is short, but the multiplayer is a blast)
-The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD (assuming you didn't play the original on GameCube)
-Hyrule Warriors (It's a Dynasty Warriors game with Zelda characters, and for the most part it's fun to play)

If (or when) the new open world Zelda game is coming out for the Wii-U, then that is reason enough for me to get one:

is this a trick question ?!
I'm surprised it took this long before a troll post appeared.
Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Zelda Twilight Princess HD.

there simply isnt that much to the wii U's library
with enough rumors going round that the NX will be announced on E3

the OP might as well wait till june to see whats what before ending up with a system that might be as dead as the vita

and most recommendations here are the same 5 4 titles repeated

so if that makes my post a "troll"post then i dont know what to tell you

Hyrule Warriors is my most played game by far. Very good when you want to just turn your brain off and have some fun, I usually play it when I have too much on my plate and am too tired for some turn-based RPG or a puzzle game, but still want to play something. The campaign is just sort of alright, it gets much better in the adventure maps where you start facing some challenges.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is less story focused and more character focused than its predecessor, but walking around and exploring the world is really engaging. It's good if you really want to sink your teeth on a massive experience, it takes about 30 hours to get your giant robot, another 30 or more to get the ability to fly in it, I put well over 100 hours in it and am still a couple of chapters away from the end. I wouldn't say it's the padding type of content, there's always something to do right around the corner, you string one of those missions after the other and before you notice it hours have passed.

Bayonetta 2. One of the best hack and slash games I've ever played, the first one showed promise but had a few too many annoyances, the sequel has smoothed some things out. If you're not into the genre this probably won't change your mind, but if you are, you can't go wrong.

Super Mario 3D World. Despite being in 3D, it's gameplay template has more in common with the 2D Mario games than the 3D ones like Galaxy. It's something you've likely seen before, but done really well.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, another 2D platformer. Easier than the previous one, but pretty good. Loads of collectibles, if you're into that type of stuff.

I suppose if you didn't have a Gamecube, Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD are good choices as well.

And who knows if they'll be good, but I'm definitely getting Pokkén Tournament next week, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE in a couple of months.

I have some advice. If you don't have a Wii-U, don't get one; UNLESS you already can identify at least 5 must-have games for you. If you can't identify 5 games you really want to play by yourself, games that you'd enjoy, then skip it. It's the rule I'm following, and as of yet I still don't own a Wii-U.

I think I'm up to 3 games now, but Nintendo has otherwise utterly failed to impress me.

im sure there wil be rage and massive dissapoint
but if it actually is all that and wil be revealed on E3 then the wii U is a dead system walking

even more then it already is
Pikmin 3 is awesome.

Lego City Undercover is an excellent GTA-Clone.

The Wonderful 101 is a fantastic game.

Splatoon and Mario Kart are superb multiplayer games.

And the usual Nintendo franchises Super Mario 3D World, New Super Mario Bros & New Super Luigi Bros are highly recommended.

Not to mention the tablet's base battery life only lasts like 45 minutes before it needs to be recharged, forcing you out of a game if you happened to get immersed in a game. I'd much prefer the screen wasn't there.

Honestly Mario anything is milked WAY too much. Actually all the base franchises are (Zelda & Mario) and Metroid games don't look like they got better since prime. So it's a coin toss. Actually I really hate the 'wii' name in general so I'm pre-biased against the system in general.
