I was reading another thread and someone mentioned seeing a band and I started wondering what bands people have seen live. So... who have you seen, and how many times?

For me:

Rush

Signals tour in 1983(?) as an unexpected event (not that the concert was unexpected, but I didn't expect to get to go) in Scotland. This one was a blast, even though Geddy Lee lost his voice about 2/3 of the way through and they finished off with instrumentals. Bloody awesome, nevertheless.

In Vancouver in 2002 (I think that was the year) when they returned to touring after a long absence with their Vapour Trails tour. Excellent show.

Pink Floyd

Unfortunately, not the 'classic' lineup with Roger Waters, but I caught them in Vancouver in 1994 for their Division Bell tour. Fantastic show.

U2

Caught their Zoo TV tour in 1992. I was a huge fan of their Achtung Baby album and really liked The Joshua Tree (as well as a number of their earlier albums). This show was really, really stellar. Went with a buddy and we were both blown away.

Dire Straits

Their On Every Street tour in 1992(?) in Vancouver. Honestly don't remember a whole lot about that show, but I do remember Mark Knopfler's incredible guitar work.

Nazareth

Don't recall what year, and don't really remember a lot about the show, but I used to love this band. Interstingly, my buddy's brother went to Scotland the year before my buddy and I did, and he ended up playing golf with the band there (I think it may have been the St. Andrews course).

April Wine

Don't remember when I saw this iconic Canadian band, but it was many years ago when I was pretty young. They were damned good.

Huey Lewis and the News

I've no idea how I was talked into seeing these guys, and I didn't really want to go. But my buddy and his girlfriend (and her sister) were all hot and bothered to see them, so I went. Actually, a pretty decent show and there was one song where the lead guitarist went for a few minutes on a fairly long guitar solo that kicked some serious ass. Worth it for that alone.

Spirit of the West

Local band that has/had a reasonably large Canadian following. They played in the alpine on Whistler Mountain - can't recall the year, exactly, but probably 1998 or 1999. Great show and great venue. They were headlining with Gypsy Kings and some other band whom I've since forgotten (I guess they weren't that memorable. Gypsy Kings were enjoyable, but Spirit of the West were fantastic). Sad that their lead singer is suffering from Alzheimers now. Really good band.

I'll mention this one, even though it's just a small, nothing - and probably forgotten - band and I only mention it because I remember having such a great time:
Spyder (If memory serves)

Pretty average punk band I saw in Scotland (Edinburgh) with a couple buddies in a small bar. Band was okay but the venue was fantastic. Great people and we had a kick-ass good time.

There are some others that I know I'm forgetting. May fill them in later as they come to me, but that's what pops to mind right now.

'Regrets'

I passed up the chance to see Stevie Ray Vaughan in Vancouver in 1989 (didn't have the money) and he was killed in a helicopter crash about 6 months later.

Also missed out on Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull in my younger days.

Some of you music buffs must have seen a ton of shows, so lets hear about 'em.
Iron Maiden - 2005 Malakasa

My first live! Eddie Rips up World Tour. Was damn hot that day and i almost fainted cause i had no experience in lives prior and i was at the 5th line when they started. When "Murders in the Rue Morgue" ended i went to the kiosk and downed 3 bottles of water to regain all the liquids i had lost. Then i enjoyed the show 30 lines back.

At the Gates - 2008 - Athens

Good show, last live on their reunion tour. It was in a venue for around 1.500-2.000 people. Good show.

Psychotic Waltz - 2012 - Athens

Possibly the best live i've gone. Great music, great audience, but average sound. The skill of the band redeemed me though. Can't wait for their new album

Winterhawk 2014 - Athens

Jordan Macarus is possibly the most underknown guitar player in earth. This was a sudden dream coming true, cause i never believed this band would do live shows again (especially in Europe - they're from Chicago).
Awesome show and awesome deliverance!
Modest Mouse. Once. I believe it happened to be the day before We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank was released.

Apart from one local bar band that featured a friend of a friend that was in my D&D group, I think that is all.
Could of sworn I clicked the Post my message button, but it didn't post.

My late brother paid my way into a Three Dog Night concert in Phoenix, late 60's I believe. It opened with someone I had never heard of, at the time, The Eclectic Mouse. I recall thinking that they were the better act.

Much later, my wife and I saw Bob Dylan when he was touring with Tom Petty. I think that was early 80's at the Coliseum in Phoenix. They were so good together.

So much for my concert history!

Black Emperor (x2), The Sisters of Mercy (x2), Einstürzende Neubauten (x2), Nouvelle Vague (x4), Bon Jovi, Diamanda Galas (could also be considered local), Jethro Tull

Memorable local ones (greek bands) include: Nightstalker (x5), Villagers of Ioannina City, Godsleep, The Earthbound, 1000mods

The above list is totally incomplete, missing festivals, missing not worth mentioning concerts, missing concerts I just forgot to mention, missing a lot of heavy metal stuff from when I was a kid etc...

So you could say I like going to lives? I guess. Someone I haven't seen and really want to: TOM fuckin' WAITS.

Metallica
Napalm Death
My Dying Bride
The Gathering
Within Temptation

are some of them, but not too many unfortunately.
I could not possibly list them...but some highlights...
Saw Primus on their Frizzle Fry tour at a frat bar with 100 people or so. Was sitting about 5 feet in front of Les Claypool at the bar.
Saw Soundgarden in a club the same summer. Probably a crowd of 300 people. They played Earache My Eye for an encore.

Motorhead
Metallica
King Diamond
Slayer
Death
Eric Clapton
Alice Cooper
Bob Seger
Danzig
Moody Blues
Butthole Surfers
Gwar
Ted Nugent
Sepultura
Aerosmith
Ozzy Ozbourne
Eric Clapton
Public Enemy
Anthrax
So many smaller bands...and so many more...
I was fortunate to be around when you could get into good shows for about $10 as the Indie scene was just taking off with the CD era. Metal was immensely popular (if still not on the radio). Didn't take too long for prices to rise though in the early 90's and it just wasn't worth it anymore except maybe the big festivals.

I appreciate someone who understands that Motörhead should be on top of every list. :D

Napalm Death reminds me of the Michigan Death Fest with about a dozen bands including Napalm Death which was put on by a local promoter. I helped a friend with his magazine, so we were sorta kinda co-promoters. A few weeks before the concert, someone called in to a local TV station claiming there would be live animal sacrifices at the show and there was this big publicity backlash. Church groups formed a prayer circle around the concert venue! It was pretty funny. I remember going out there as a "promoter" and talking to them because I could! Sacrifice was supposed to co-headline with Morbid Angel but couldn't get across the border into the U.S.

Seen them 3 or 4 times. They were supposed to co-headline the Milwaukee Metal Fest with Slayer but pulled out the day of when they found out how much Slayer was getting paid. That was the same weekend Jeffery Dahmer was arrested and I was in Milwaukee as the news about him was coming out...

Well, I represented the metal format for a radio station locally from 1994-1999, so I saw a LOT of concerts. Here's what I can remember :

- Running Wild x 2 (in Germany on their Victory tour. Got backstage and got to meet them)
- Iron Savior (touring with Running Wild)
- Symphony X x 2
- Anthrax x 3
- Megadeth x 4
- Pantera (On their "Vulgar Display of Power" tour. The fans got so frenzied that they broke the baracade, overwhelmed security, and Pantera had to pick up their shit mid-song and run away from their own fans)
- Overkill x 5
- Testament
- Helloween (on Keeper of the 7 Keys Pt 2 tour in 1989)
- Exodus x 2 (The second time they gave me their wings because I was eying them like a hungry wolf because they went on 4 hours late. F'n cool guys!)
- Havok
- Children of Bodom x 3
- Iced Earth
- Dream Theater x 3
- Queensryche x 2
- Virgin Steele
- King Diamond
- Gwar x 2
- Fear Factory x 2
- Hanzel und Gretal
- Pro-Pain
- Corrosion of Conformity
- Sacred Reich
- Nevermore x 5 (hung out with these guys every time they came around)
- Sanctuary
- Yngwie Malmsteen x 2
- George Lynch
- Judas Priest
- Iron Maiden (on their "Somewhere Back in Time" tour where they only did tracks from the 80's)
- Danzig
- Arch Enemy
- The Black Dahlia Murder
- Skeletonwitch
- Mastodon
- Slayer
- Lamb of God
- Malevolent Creation
- Flotsam & Jetsam (my hairdresser at the time nearly hooked up with their bass player. When that went awry, she apparently got sexually frustrated and later headbutted some random girl in the pizza shop. My buddy and I had to drag her out before things really got out of hand)

More glamy stuff :
- Ratt
- Motley Crue
- Poison (GF was involved in this decision)
- Warrant
- Quiet Riot

I hate you.

The two really wroth mentioning, perso:

Rammstein, Elysée-Montmartre, Paris. In training for "Mutter" break-through tour, but goodness me how popular they were, there and then! And what concert it was...

Depeche Mode, Stade de Suisse, Bern. I tend to be cool and bothered about "on stage" charisma, but Gahan - you are the man!
None
Tickets costs too much. Can't see , listen and enjoy in crowd. Trouble for few minutes are not worth.
